Why do the kids love Call of Duty?

Destructoid: I was at GameStop the other day, and there was a family in front of me in line -- a man, a woman, a baby, and what looked like a six-year-old girl. The little girl was wearing a bright green dress and seemed happy about everything. As the family got to the front of the line, the little girl noticed the store's DSi XL display unit, which was running the DS version of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Good article, but I really didn't like this quote: "Everyone I know who's over 40 only plays games that are rated E (assuming they play videogames at all), those under 40 are willing to play games that are either E, T, or M, and those under 20 tend to be particularly attracted to M-rated games." As a 50 year old gamer, I think that statement is overly generalized. I play M-rated games and thoroughly enjoy them. Plus, I don't play much E-rated games except for racing and sports.

As far as the article goes, I agree with most everything else the author has to say. This is just another reason why I prefer the BF series over COD: a more mature audience and a more mature game.

Im also over 40 and dont like that quote either! killzone 2/3 are constantly in my ps3! most gamers I know, when talking about cod, for the most part say they play it because "most of my friends play it" or "most of my online friends play it". Not good enough for moi!

newleaf2534d ago

because they aren't elitist pricks. They simply just like fun games.

Gunshot2534d ago

"because they aren't elitist pricks."

Who are these pricks you speak of?

If it's so easy, mind putting together a team and going against me? 1v1 even?

Pandamobile2534d ago

Sure, I've got Blops and MW2 on Steam. Pick whatever.

Add me as "Tehdaza"

evrfighter2534d ago (Edited 2534d ago )

COD is the easiest FPS. My KD is 2.11 because I fool around with tomahawks and snipers now. My bro is at 2.65, check his playercard. He's Nathan_Suavez on PSN

frelyler2534d ago

why don't you turn the auto aim off and offer the same terms again. I bet you wouldn't.

radphil2534d ago (Edited 2534d ago )

You realize easy means "easy to learn and play", right?

If someone said World of Warcraft was easy and someone went "Oh yea, what's your gear?", that doesn't pertain to the situation.

my little brother was destroying that game when he was 9 but can play other games. Its ridiculous speeds also help little kids with low attention spans and doesn't require or really even allow for strategy.

BeaArthur2534d ago

Exactly what I was going to say. Or we would also except "because it takes zero skill".

My nephews love it, so do their parents and Grandfather. I like it as well but I play PC and they play console. I wish there was a way we could all play regardless of platform against one another.

news4geeks2534d ago

If I had a kid or especially a little girl I wouldn't let her go close to CoD. Not so much because of the game itself although that would be an issue, just the disgusting online community that you'll find on xbox live and the rest. Wouldn't risk my kid playing online gaming with types of people these games attract.
