EA published a list of Digital Retailers that which Battlefield 3 can be bought from, on the official Battlefield Website.
It better be on steam or else I will be pissed...
Non-Steamworks games don't usually show up on Steam til a month to a couple weeks before the release date.
EA are trying to dethrone call of duty, or so they say, I seriously doubt they'll just skip a steam release all-together. I'm in agreement with Panda that it'll be there, just not until right before/shortly after launch.
Hopefully the conflict between EA and Valve gets fixed ASAP. I know that would be a huge disappointment for many, if it did not happen. @Pandamobile The conflict between Crytek and Valve was for Crysis, pretty sure, and now that EA came out with their "steam", Origin, it had just added to the little problem. Pretty sure the disagreement was between Crytek and Valve, not EA and Valve. The issue Valve had was that Crytek wasn't distributing the Crysis 2 DLC on Steam. They had some sort of exclusive agreement with Gamespy for that. Valve didn't like that. That's why it was removed shortly after the C2 DLC came out.
EA publishing a list like this will further piss Valve off. Its like EA is rubbing Valve's nose in this list of available retailers.
If it doesn't show up on Steam, Gamersgate is always my second option.
I'm just going to grab a retail copy if they skip a Steam release. That way the store gets more of greedy-arsed EA's money.
stupid ea, well looks like im not buying battlefield 3
You can't buy a physical copy?
Exactly what gelmists said, just expressing my frustration
expressing your frustration is what gamers should be doing. It may not seem like much but Every publisher has someone follows the community to see what their fans are thinking. Except Activision I believe Bowling started off in that dept but he was born with magical powers of bullshit you to the max. So it's backwards there. the customer follows him to see what he's thinking rather than it being the other way around.
Pre-ordered the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3 for £23.19 on bee.co.uk using the promotion code: PREORDER20 Good deal imo :)
Yeah that's where I ordered from for £23
I'll order the retail version, come on screw DD, my Internet sucks ass anyways! That's exactly what I did with BC2!
Not really surprised its not gonna be on steam at least not yet. This is the type of game tho that i rather have a physical copy personally.
If I bought a physical copy from Amazon, does Origin let me register the game and then be able to download it from there if I ever need to or would it only be able to be installed by the physical disk? I was planning on using a 20 dollar credit on BF3 after Gears 3 comes out (also did DICE set a date that you have to preorder by to get the Karkand expansion or is it up until the day of release?)
You can probably add it to Origin, as for the preorder i do not know about the date. I think you can just preorder now and then when u get the $20 credit add it on.
