Digital Spy - 'Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D' Review

Digital Spy: Resident Evil 4 was earth-shattering when it was released in 2005, making the over-the-shoulder viewpoint the de facto means of making action games, inspiring the likes of Gears of War to the recent Shadows of the Damned. Among many of its achievements was The Mercenaries, an arcade side-mode which unlocked after the credits had rolled, dropping players into closed-off campaign scenarios and flooding them with enemies, all in the name of high scores. It gave an already satisfying and lengthy game longer legs, most likely inspired Gears of War (again) with its Horde mode, and was later featured in divisive follow-up Resident Evil 5. (3DS, Resident Evil) 3/5
