Glossy Eyed: Nyko's Zoom is coming, but does Microsoft want you to buy it?

Your Kinect will need 40 percent less space next month when peripherals manufacturer Nyko Technologies releases the Zoom for Kinect. The clip-on peripheral will be available nationwide in stores and online August 23 for an MSRP of $29.99. With a series of proprietary lenses and a simple clip-on design, Nyko says the Zoom lets players enjoy Microsoft Kinect games in 40% less space, and requires no additional power or batteries. This would make it perfect for apartments, dorms and small living rooms, with the Zoom allowing two people play Kinect in a space that would otherwise only accommodate one person and is compatible with any Kinect game. Announced at E3 2011, the Zoom was nominated for Best Hardware in Show by IGN, GameSpot, Machinima and G4 X-Play.

No because it means their product was flawed.

gamingdroid2715d ago

Yes, all products that has accessories are flawed! ...Wait?

JokesOnYou2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

lol, why would an accessory make kinect flawed? It works as intended, most have been able to utilize kinect just fine, pay attention like the article said, this will make kinect more accessible for those who live in small apartments, dorms or small rooms. No different than those who choose to buy advanced controllers, mods with extra grips etc, doesn't mean the standard controller is "flawed" just means it will help that individual but again most don't need it. Quite frankly I've already seen kinect work in limited spaces, so if your living room is that small you should avoid kinect because its just not designed to play the current games in cramped space, lol unless you like getting punched in the face.

coolbeans2714d ago

You do realize the PS3, 360, and Wii controller have extra accesories as well, right?

KING_KAI2714d ago

therefore move is flawed

gamingdroid2714d ago

It's ironic isn't it?

I mean there is now an accessory for an accessory!

they didnt say they dont want you to buy it - they just said that using anything unofficial can adversely affect the performance - which it can.

hazelamy2715d ago

they can't diasable it in firmware like they want to so they're going to imply it'll stop kinect working prpoerly if you use one.

KING_KAI2714d ago

haha remember the trigger add ons for the ps3 controller. i always use to lol at them.
