Sony’s PlayStation Network Down Again

Great Gaming Crusade: "The PlayStation Network is, once again, down.

We aren’t totally sure if this is a maintenance issue, hack or some other situation, but we are looking into it. An error code of 80710016 is given with a message of “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network.” It doesn’t specifically give the undergoing maintenance message, but it still very well could be that."

So it was down for an hour for maintenance, and now we get an article declaring it down "again" (as if this were comparable to 'the' incident) and it reaches 600+ degrees.

It's always been that way though. Every single time the PSN would go down in the past for maintenance or even if someone couldn't get on because his internet was out you'd get articles on N4G screaming "PSN IS DOWN! LOOKIT! LOOKIT! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR FREE!"

Steam may go offline however you are not at steams mercy to go online :)

You can still keep playing your games online even if steam is down, not the same with PSN or XBL.

And then you're at the "whim" of your ISP anyway and we all know what great people they are, don't we? Thing is you're always relying on SOME other git for your online and they all have their downtime. My ISP is down more than Live or PSN on average anyway.

I tried getting on the official PlayStation website and it said something about an unauthorized intrusion.

EDIT: Well, after being shut out of the UC3 beta and unable to access PSN, I tried signing in again and it worked. I wonder if my online games will work, and if so, for how long.

update: well, everything seems fine so, yeah. Everytime a few folks have a problem with PSN, there's no need to rush out and make an article about it.

It's called reporting, that's what the update is for, to show more info found. It's obvious that several users across the country with no connection were having problems with the network, also the message and times don't add up to the warning on the site. This was a good story, whether you liked it or not.

i got this a bit ago. i got the uc beta, played one game, had a hard freeze, then i received this same error code. anyways kinda sucks since i had a death in the family last week, so i didn't rush to download and play the uncharted 3 beta, now i get it, and this.
