L.A. Noire Praised in Japan

There’s something about a good story that can cross all sorts of cultural boundaries. The right mix of atmosphere, sound, and performance can—even with subtitles—evoke feelings that no matter where you’re from, you understand the message. While elements of L.A. Noire might be very western, that hasn’t stopped it’s incredible momentum.

alot of japanese games get those scores in famitsu (7,8,9,10) thats nothing new and same with some other western games

making to much out of it

EinRobot2659d ago

I dont think getting 39 out of a possible 40 for a review score is as commonplace as you think.

NewMonday2659d ago

the game was good technically with great ideas but things just didn't come together, and the writing was all over the place.

VampiricDragon2659d ago

theres been 40+ games that have gotten 40/40

the games that have gotten above 30/40 are more commonplace than you think

kingdavid2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

There havent been 40+ games getting 40/40... Now I know you are making things up. 10-15 MAX over the years.

And how many of those which got 40/40 are western games Vampiric? I cant think of one..

For a western game to get such praise in Japan is an achievement.

Let them keep playing it, and we'll see if their opinion changes. Mine sure did. I still can't muster the will to finish it.

MysticStrummer2659d ago

Apparently from the disagrees, my opinion never changed about the game at all. I never got tired of doing the same thing over and over, and I was so riveted by the story that I finished it and then wept because I wanted more.

In retrospect, LA Noire was pretty dull. Hell, even South Park made fun of it.

Stan is now a "cynical assh*le".

Troll-without-Bridge2659d ago

Id say La noire is Rockstar's best game, like, ever.

PhantomT14122659d ago

Wow, best game. Good game, but not the best I'd say. I think the three GTA of the previous generation were more memorable.
It's indeed R*'s most ambitious title though.

karl2659d ago

GTA has always sucked.. people just like it because its openworld ...

RDR would be the best game of R*

kingdavid2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

The irony of your comment karl lolz.

I loved RDR as much as the next guy but its really nothing more than GTA set in western times.

I sorta knew Japanese would like games like LA Noire. I think this country needs to love more RPGs.
