Battlefield 3 PS3 graphics under the spotlight

PSU: Responding to the recent outcry from some sections of the gaming community that Battlefield 3’s graphics on PlayStation 3 look inferior to the PC version, EA DICE has sought to put the record straight

EA DICE has made no secret of the fact that the PC is the leading platform for Battlefield 3 and rival developer Sledgehammer Games hasn’t wasted any opportunity to point out that its shooter, Modern Warfare 3 runs at a silky smooth 60fps while Battlefield 3 will run at 30fps

The PC does not [email protected]

It fking runs at whatever your system is able to give.

Then you can either raise settings, or lower them depending on what you want, better graphics, better framerate.

360/PS3 will run @ 30-45fps, but be [email protected] 30fps. So it is perfectly smooth.

Sub4Dis2606d ago

i'll take smooth (30 fps) and a really good game and good graphics over a "silky smooth (60 fps)" turd.

A rival franchise from Activision comes to mind based on that description.

I enjoy Battlefield games for their online multiplayer, vehicles & destruction, and....

I enjoy Call of Duty games for their explosive single player campaigns and the entertaining Spec-ops & zombie modes!

There is far too much hate for the Call of Duty franchise. People must remember that if you don't like it, then don't buy it. And for the love of God stop whining and bitching about it!

When you keep telling everyone how great you are and then deliver something no better than you last game...then you deserve all the flack you are taking.

It's going to get a lot worse for these fraudsters hiding behind high end PC footage knowing full well COD owns them on consoles...the highest selling platform for these games.

The Fanboys can make all the excuses in the world for these guys but their day of reckoning is coming. Don't worry...I'll be there to tell you I told you so.

Physics > Graphics

To a certain extent, of course.

helghast1022606d ago (Edited 2606d ago )

Gameplay > Music > Physics > Graphics > Story
for the most part, for stuff like RPGs Story is higher up and Graphics and Physics are dead last

edit @ below
Like I said, it all depends on the genre, is anyone going to give a flying turd about BF3's story?

edit2 @Brian
Music, for me, is one of, if not THE, best ways to immerse the player.
Try muting a games music, or replacing it with Bieber, It's incredibly hard to feel a part of the world

Mr Tretton2606d ago

I think story is more important than graphics and physics, if the game has a story.

BrianG2606d ago (Edited 2606d ago )

I agree with your point that gameplay is the most important factor, but story at the end?

Seems almost contradictory. Especially with music being more important than story and physics? Which arguably contribute to the gameplay experience.

@Edit: I agree music can create a greater sense of immersion. But I just fail to see how that differs from graphics creating a greater sense of immersion. Or story tugging at your feelings to create immersion. Sure you might not care about a FPS's story, but I'm sure there are people who do. If those are your preferences I respect them, they differ from mines but hey, we all play games for varying reasons.

Takoulya2606d ago

I would put Music last in order of importance, IMO. I'm not undermining the importance of music at all, considering my favourite piece is The Best is Yet to Come from MGS1, but I think it's not that relevant in many games now.

Darrius Cole2606d ago

I have to disagree with that order. I think its...

Story = Gameplay > Music > Physics> Graphics...

...assuming that by physics you don't simply mean the way that the brick, cans and other objects withing the universe move but rather that the character can interact objects in the environment to affect the gameplay. For example, in Heavenly Sword you could pick-up any loose object and use it as a weapon.

A great story is strong enough to carry weak gameplay (Final Fantasy XIII), and great gameplay is strong enough to carry a weak story (Ninja Gaiden)

the great ludology vs narratology debate

Gran Touring2606d ago

@Darrius FFXIII didn't really have a good story...

Hell yeh care about graphics. anyone who sais they dont talking BS, like anything you buy you get apealed by the design or look of what you buy b4 you think ahead to other things like what it has to offer userally after.

and all good devs will tell you to sell a game it has to look good play great.

LeftPawedFox2606d ago

i hope that it looks really good on ps3!

NegativeCreep4272606d ago

But if it doesn't. Then oh well.

At least there will be Uncharted 3 that will fill the void in the "Graphical Quality Meets All" department.

LeftPawedFox2606d ago

Ya true! ohh and btw i love Nirvana! :)

Urrakia342606d ago

Just the fact that they're even caring enough to bring it to consoles is good enough for me.
