Sony, have you got a problem in Australia?

iTWire's Stan Beer wrote on November 2, 2007:

"It's not often that [iTWire] give voice to readers who send [iTWire] emails. However, this disaffected Sony gamer, a desktop support engineer for the Australian office of a major global company, was so indignant with Sony's treatment of its loyal fans in Australia, that his words almost jumped off the page.

The following is part of the email, edited to remove typos, correct some spelling mistakes and grammatical errors and remove some of the more shall [iTWire] say colourful language..."

What a whiny little b1tch. Check your taxes and import duty's (looking at you too Europe) before b1tching about price differences.

SofaKingReetodded3693d ago

than "Round Peg"....lmao

boy these xbots are starting to feel desperate.

COD:4 = FAR BETTER ON PS3
ASSASSINS CREED = BETTER ON PS3
UNCHARTED = UNMATCHED BY ANYTHING ON 360
HAZE = NOW PS3 EXCLUSIVE
UT:3 = ON PS3 FOR FORSEEABLE FUTURE
RATCHET N CLANK = AGAIN UNMATCHED BY ANYTHING ON 360
MGS:4 = EVERY XBOTS WET DREAM THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN
KZ:2 = AGAIN UNMATCHED BY ANYTHING ON 360 NOW OR IN THE FUTURE

yeah I would feel pretty desperate too if I were an xbot.

Try this on for size

COD:4 = Not out yet
ASSASSINS CREED = Not out yet
UNCHARTED = Not out yet
HAZE = Not out yet
UT:3 = Not out yet
RATCHET N CLANK = Not a system seller.
MGS:4 = Not out yet
KZ:2 = Not out yet

Dont count your chickens before they hatch!
Because most of them will have frame rate issues and poor controls.

Sez 3693d ago

and out of that whole list of games you just posted on two to three may get over 90 on gameranking.the rest will just flop.review wise and sales wise. mark my words

SofaKingReetodded3693d ago

screenshots from COD:4 and Assassins Creed already show the PS3 version to be superior. You can't even do comparisons to Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank because nothing on that crappy console even comes close. Again I ask everyone to look at how desperate xbots are even going as far as predicting that these AAA games will be "poor"

sorry xturds the FUD campaign has failed and now it is PS3's time to shine. While your peeing up your panties chew on this:

Nintendo made a graph! Weekly sales show huge PS3 price cut spike

While miserable old ChartTrack is always reluctant to release UK hardware sales figures, they couldn't stop Nintendo spilling the beans for all of Europe last week. The red line represents PS3. Sony will be very pleased to see it pointing upwards for once.

PS3 sales went from around 20k a week to 60k thanks to the new 40GB one and the price slashing of the 60GB model, overtaking Xbox 360 and - JESUS H CHRIST! - almost managing to outsell Nintendo's Wii. But not quite. It's still by far the best sales PS3 has managed since its launch weeks.
nintendo-graph.jpg

The full results of Nintendo's financial briefing thing are on the internet here. They contain many other graphs, none of which are particularly good reading for anyone but Nintendo.

THAT'S RIGHT YOU IDIOTS, the PS3 is now selling 3:1 over the 3FIXME. Your poor excuse for a console is dead and you retards don't even know it yet. Kinda like when a karate master takes you out with a deathstrike to the solar plexus, you hit the ground before you even realize you're dead.

It's good that ps3 is experiencing some better sales in the UK.
It was really getting embarrassing for sony....

hope they keep it up.. or ... WHAT? was it a flash in the pan?

By the way sofa, what are the WORLD sales figures saying about ps3 and its games sales? hmmmm.....? Oh deary me... last again?

I think the reason for the price difference is in years gone by an Australian dollar was only worth 60 or 70 US cents and we were used to paying $700 for a PSOne or $750 for a PS2.

These days however an Aussie dollar is about 90 US cents. The rates are alot closer but it hasn't transfered over to the price of consoles. We lived with a $1000 PS3 cos we knew it had so much more in it than when the $750 PS2 launched but in reality it should have been about $750 if the US ont was only $600.

HBK6193693d ago

We seem to still be living in the age that the US Dollar is worth 60 cents AU, now it is up at 93 cents, we should be getting close to dollar for dollar differences, it is not Sony or Microsoft who bump these prices, it is big business, they charge Sony and MS so much to send them here that the price is bumped up so much higher.

Look at the PS3 and 360 games, in US it cost $60, in Aus it is $120rrp, that is DOUBLE!!!

tmax3693d ago

There is no more sales tax on electronic goods in Australia, only 10% GST, SONY doesn't use parity pricing in Australia, they charge what people are prepared to spend.

When 60GB PS3 first came out it was $599 US - the AUS dollar was .59 to the 1 US Dollar, so they were probably making a loss back then, it was selling for $999 back then.

Now the new 40GB console is $399 US - the AUS dollar is .91 to the US Dollar it should be about $450 -$499 if you compare it to the old rate. The 40GB will now sell for AUS $699 they are ripping us off about $200 AUS per console.

Sony always has done this in Australia, it's like they make the prices up by pulling them out of a hat, they never reflect market forces.

Bathyj3693d ago

Its not just Sony. Xbox and Wii's prices are both over inflated in OZ. Sh*t I remember paying $130 for a SNES Street Fighter 2 cartridge in the early 90's.

It sucks but dont act like its only Sony or like it hasn't always been this way.

tmax3693d ago (Edited 3692d ago )

I know it's not just Sony, hell I used to own a Neo Geo System used to pay $280-$450 per cartridge. Also nearly all of my Hi-Fi gear is Sony. I'm just pissed because they treat us like idiots - like we don't understand exchange rates, and the internet doesn't exist. Then they insult us with these lame reasons as to why they can't meet the US prices.

Apple Computers used be guilty of the same thing in the 80's - 90's, but because of almost going broke and consumer pressure they changed to parity pricing, if the price of a Apple Mac computer drops in the US then they will reflect that price in australia.
