Gamrzz: The Crysis 2 DirectX11 website has been updated, this makes us think it will be coming out very, very soon. Right now you cant download it obviously since its not available but hopefully it soon will be.
Dam the game actually might be worth getting after this. Too bad they took it off Steam.
Yea I was going to get it this summer, but since they took it off of steam i really dont want to get it now.
Whats the big deal about Steam? You can still get it off Direct2Drive or Amazon digital service. Its the same thing, only without Steam's crapstatic patching process.
Steam is a great way to have control over your games and friends in one place, like for example you got alot of games like me http://steamcommunity.com/i... then steam is perfect for keeping control and the Friend system is brilliant, see a friend playing CSS? just click join and your in his game in under 10sec. + Steam got tons of deals all the time, they got game of the day (that get 30-75% off), Midweek madness (that are on mostly 40-75% off), Weekend madness and more, + nothing can beat the Xmas sales where most things are 50-75/ off you guys can read more about steam @ http://store.steampowered.c... @only without Steam's crapstatic patching process. The patching works great, your games are always up-to-date, you never have to think about it.
@ViserysTargaryen Yea I've gotten a few games off of D2D, but I have this problem where I always forget that I even get the games from d2d and then completely forget that I even own them. It's really not that huge of a deal, but I was just looking forward to it being on sale during steams summer sale.
DX support it very good this year & only get better with Frostbite 2 again next year for Medal of honor! plus Metro: last light! PC is going hard son! Plus Crytek in releasing the CryEngine3 Sdk for free in august make your own game! God I love PC's.. more screens.. - http://www.examiner.com/vid...
Patch 1.9 details have been posted on mycrysis Apparently this DX11 stuff & other fixes etc (listed on the post) will be aimed for a release next week.
Yet no fix for the grain glitch on consoles. This is great for PC owners but Crytek has disappointed me beyond measure with their complete lack of support on 360.
One of the graphical enhancements is: Realistic Shadows with Variable Penumbra. That is straight Pixar stuff. I have never seen a game change shadow blur amount based on the distance of the object and the light source and the surface the shadow is on. I wonder how the hell they are doing this. http://upload.wikimedia.org... On the left is how EVERY game has done shadows (some devs choose to have a blurry shadow, but then you never get crisp shadows, you have to choose just 1 type based on filtering). But Crysis 2 DX11 supports what is on the left, depending on the light source and object and surface distance, you get a different shadow penumbra.
