HD Remakes: Helping or Hurting?

Game Podunk blogger, IWX writes, "The Sly Trilogy, God of War I & II, Prince of Persia Collection have all been given a facelift, with many more projects to follow. Such projects include Shadow of the Colossus, the Silent Hill Collection, Splinter Cell Collection and Ico. Though becoming more common, this is nothing new. The DS has been getting remakes throughout its lifespan with titles being updated and the Gamecube even received some polished up versions of Resident Evil games (and more are coming!). But the key question you must ask is, are these remakes helping or hurting the gaming industry? Well, let’s take a look at some possible pros and cons when it comes to the remaking of these titles and see what it all really boils down to."

There nothing wrong with HD re-releases, as long as the value and quality is there.

After all, it is a consumer choice: Buy old, buy new, buy both!

I don't see the logic in complaining either. I know in the case of the God of War and Metal Gear HD releases, the developers hired a different studio to make them. A studio that's only been doing that from what I've read. It's not like the developer is spending any time creating these HD versions of their games.

Either you don't buy them or you buy them. No point in complaining.

I agree, I feel there's nothing wrong with HD rereleases if they provide value. If anything it's helping the gaming industry and hurting my wallet :P

Not Hurting ....only Helping.
A good topic for discussion. However I'm hard press (and so is the writer) to find any true faults with HD remakes..
In fact I'm looking forward to holographic remakes in 2022.

They are remaking good games for the most part. When the PS2 Harry Potter games get remade we'll talk about milk and hurting. But now the newer gen can play games like GOW and Shadow of the Colassus, MGS and more in HD with trophies/achievements. it's a way to get us gamers who played them before to replay them again.

If you don't like them, don't play them.

I want MORE HD remakes eventough I own the games on PS2, I want them in full glory on my 50" 3D HDTV with trophy support. My PS2 games don't look on them.

So please developpers, give us more HD remakes!
