im happy with 30 FPS at 720p

BF3 = Epic win for gamers ;)

Warprincess1162468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

Ya i bet you are. If this was COD running at 30fps and at 720p. You guys would be attacking it but since it Battlefield. It ok. Im gone to be happy playing CODMW3 in 1080p and at 60fps.

@ 3nnui

Ok and that article does not provide proof that what you said happens in COD. The name of that site is battlefieldo. It a battlefield fanboy site. So im really not gone to take their opinion seriously without proof.

3nnui2468d ago

Like the article says, so far every COD title on 360/PS3 (including MW, MW2, and Black Ops) runs at less than 720p (average is around 600-620p actually) and with variable framerate.

It's people like yourself that the article is meant to educate.

Dart892468d ago

You do that enjoy you're glitch plagued game. While we BF fans will enjoy our demolishing of each other online with out glitches:P.

And what 3ennui said is true i thought everyone by now should know that by now maybe do some research??

RankFTW2468d ago

Good for you. I'll be playing BF3 at 120 fps at 1080p, PC ftw.

Agent-862468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

@Warprincess116, it is common knowledge that COD is in sub-HD resolution. Here's your proof:

Modern Warfare 2:

Black Ops:

HappyGaming2468d ago

Have I missed something?

Since when is 720p and 30fps a bad thing for consoles?

Are people serious this game looks too good to run any faster than that! Just be glad its not sub-hd

joab7772468d ago

I guess we will find out shortly that which we all prefer. But, my guess is that there will b no competition when concerning graphics. On ps3, i would bet anything that bf3 will b superior to mw3 graphically, even at 720 p. That leaves framerate and if its a fixed 30 fps, i guess there wont b an issue either. Mark my words, and u can already see it, b3's true competition for quality will not b mw3, it will b itself on another console. But, like everything in life, if u have the means and opportunity and chose to do so, u can play it on the better medium. Atleast we have a choice. The bigger question is w games like b3, gow3 reaching its limits as well as U3, can Sony and Microsoft hold us at bay or will there b migration to PC when the differences get too big.

DigitalxPiracy2468d ago

"Im gone to be happy playing CODMW3 in 1080p and at 60fps." Really? MW3 in 1080p? Which universe will you be playing that in?

death2smoochie2468d ago

Go to Digital Foundry and they tell you that COD runs lower than 720p with variable frame rates.

pangitkqb2468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

Great article. Every game needs to find a balance between performance and visual fidelity. Why do people suddenly doubt Dice, a company with plenty of experience with both consoles and PC? Ridiculous.

@ warprincess. The COD series runs at just over 600p. It is then UPSCALED to 1080p. It runs sub-HD natively to be able to maximize the frame rate. Stop being ridiculous and stubborn.

3nnui2468d ago

In response to your edit:

The article does provide proof - a link to a thread on a popular advanced hardware / technology discussion forum that has a defined methodology for measuring native resolution and other graphics settings like type and intensity of anti-aliasing, etc:

Scroll down some and see lists of the native resolutions of PS3 and 360 games. Nearly all are 720p or lower, many of them lower (including every Call of Duty game).

Yes, it is a Battlefield-oriented fan site. That much is obvious. This article is promoted as an editorial - that is, an opinion piece. That doesn't mean the information presented isn't valid or compelling though; most of the assertions and facts are directly linked to their source... if that's not proof, I don't know what is.

PhantomT14122468d ago

"Ok and that article does not provide proof that what you said happens in COD."

There you go, from the expert of gaming tech themselves:

I think CoD developers could have bring fresh graphics if they dropped the frame-rate to 40, that's still butter smooth.

Personally, I think it's mostly disgruntled COD fans who have their "panties in a bunch" since a superior game is on the horizon. First it was complaining about the 24 player console support even though BFBC2 played fine with 24 and, besides, COD has only had 18 players the last few games. Then, it's "where's the console footage"? DICE shows it on national TV and I thought it looked really good for console (I'll be on PC, though). So, then it's crying over that it's 30fps at 720p when that's been what almost all shooters are on consoles these days (COD has 60fps, but sacrifices graphics and have been in sub-HD resolution, like only 600p or something). I don't think this is BF fans that are whining; I really think it's COD fans trying to nitpick any little thing they can because they truly fear that BF3 is going to be the better game. Warprincess116 above is a perfect example.

Oh, and here's your proof of sub-HD for COD: http://www.pcgameshardware....

LeoDDestroyer2468d ago

No it was just the hype machine at work. EA has gone around saying that bf3 we be the greatest thing since slice bread. EA really need to stop doing that. The thing about the player count to me seem to be related to squad sizes. It a lot better to have a squad 8 than 4. I hope they put in proxy chat and the ability for squad leaders to communicate with one another. Mag has a go communication feature and I would like to see more of it in team base shooters.

Kon2468d ago

I never saw someone complain so much about 30fps and 720p than now.

Organization XII2468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

Perhaps delusional console elites (cell xtreme fanboys) were more than satisfied with games that offered 500p/600p and 24fps with messed up textures, jaggies+screen tearing everywhere, and suddenly now they want 1080p and 60fps with BF3? a game with destructible environments, phenomenal life-like lightning and massive scale?

That's BS

HappyGaming2468d ago

Its insane to even think it would be possible...

I am "hoping" all games will run in 1080p with 60fps in the next gen though. But we will still probably have the higher end games sacrificing the 60fps for better physics and graphics to compete in the screen shot department as well..

30fps is fine for games but if its 30fps make it fixed 30fps not variable where it drops to 20 sometimes.

DA_SHREDDER2468d ago

I agree, games like KZ3 and Uncharted get graphics awards with every release and they are only 720p and 30 fps. I say this is not even an issue. We got more important issues going on. Like why doesn't the WiiU have L3 and R3 buttons. Why is Dragon Warrior X only being released on the Wii? Why doesn't Sega release a sequel to Skies of Arcadia? Why does the online features for the 3DS suck as bad as they do? Why aren't gamers talking about how sick inFamous 2 is? I mean so many things to bitch about, but for some reason we always go back to the 5 year argument about the ps3 vs 360 graphics, especially for multiplats.

Mr Tretton2468d ago

Enough of these articles please

Thecraft19892468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

30FPS 720P is fine for this generation especially when there is games like uncharted and killzone

We all new that 60fps 1080p or 30fps 1080p would be next gen for consoles.

I'm with my PC for 1080p games.

BeastlyRig2468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

The biggest thing I want to see next gen is more PS3/PC titles.. Payday:the heist looks uber fun! just needs to be cross play!

Plus I have a feeling pc's, tablet & phones will be more integrated into next gen consoles over all entertainment.
