There was outcry when the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 poked its ugly 720p head up on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. There shouldn't be. Battlefield 3 will still look awesome on console | FPS Tribe
1. It wasn't 720p, it was in Alpha and it still looked great. 2. See reason #1
Correction it was in pre-alpha beta i believe. They said to wait for the Alpha beta.
all this shows how we're used to Cod's crappy visuals
It clearly doesnt console to console, but if you want the true battlefield experience you need to get in on PC. The PC version is miles better then PS3/Xbox. 64 players, dedi servers, full stat tracking, support, instant patching etc. Too bad i need to make a new PC to run it.
how can you have a pre-alpha beta? let alone an alpha beta?
Pc version is def the way to go.
PC version: 1)Better gameplay, mouse and keyboard 2)Bigger maps, its confrimed, console version has little maps. 3)More players, more stuff, hell yea :D 4)Better grahpic :D 5)60FPS 6)Servers, server browser. I dont like P2P system. There are so many reason why Battlefield belongs to PC
PS3 version no doubt, if you want your tags taken come to that system. @Substance101 reading these comments from these "pc players" your more kids than the stereotypical 360 gamer if not worst, you all sound like gamestop employees pushing items on to people who already made up there mind on what they want to own. To each his own people “The people to fear are not those who disagree with you, but those who disagree with you and are too cowardly to let you know.” — Napoleon Bonaparte
Well not only is the PC version superior, its also got the most mature crowd. PC gamers tend to work together unlike the kids on console, which actually makes the experience all the better. Gosh my friends when they play on console they actually have to mute everyone just so they dont hear the kids screaming.
@ Substance101 is that backed up bz some research?i,for example, while playing bfbc2 online, always play in the squad with my gf and some friends,we always try to help others however we can.and just because there are some gamers who tend to go solo,or vocally abuse others,it doesnt mean that all console gamers do that.you have ppl like that on pc as well, you know.or perhaps you dont.
yes it does matter and yes i'll play it on PC
MOST IMPORTANTLY! The PC version doesnt have the exclusive pre order DLC fiasco that the console version are having. On PC people can easily share the codes.
don't matter for me. I'm a student, skint and would rather buy a 3D tv than a new £1000 PC to get this game as good as everyone else is saying. PS3 it is. As long as it looks better than Bad Company 2 I will be very happy!
1. PC 2. PS3 3. Xbox
Doesnt mean there going to reskin all the characters and environments and up the polygon count Lol.. All this mean is they need to test for bugs and shiz haha they may improve lighting ever so slightly but this is what it will look like..
Well if BF3 doesn't get released on Steam, then I'll be getting the PS3 version.
PS3 for me.
Why limit your experience on purpose, get the PC version ;-) no need to be limited lol.
Same, getting a copy for me and my brother. Can't wait.
Lol, why sould I limit my experience by buying it for PS3? I don't have a gaming PC. I play on PS3. I love Dualshock and PS3. Maybe your limited in other areas.
@Kratos You pretty much limited your gaming experience by not having a gaming PC.
If you have a pc that can handle the game better than a console, feel free to buy it on PC. Console gamers will naturally purchase the console version. What's up with the disagrees ?
Well my pc is limited and I am gonna buy the ps3 version!
so ps3 for me. inb4 snobby pc gamers ruin the fun and judge my preference.
getting it on ps3 as well, will be a blast to play^^
@ Substance PS3 limited gaming experience, don't joke! eg. Uncharted series, Killzone, MGS4!, God of War, GT 5, Infamous, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire... All those great games, and more... you won't find them on PC buddy.
@stu888 And yet people still go for that over actual logical descriptions, and instead jump the bandwagon of rallying behind people on this site. The irony of this all, is that the console has parts of a PC.
Does it really matter which platform you play it on? For me, Yes No need Disagree, i dont hate consoles, i still love Uncharted and Gears of War, great games and grahpic graphic. For Battlefield 3, i take PC version, 64 players, better gameplay, servers, better grahpic and bigger maps.
This article makes two mistakes: 1) The texture quality of that BF3 screenshot is clearly below that in the Killzone 3/Uncharted 3 screens. No cross-platformer on the PS3 will ever look as good as a game programmed specifically with the PS3 hardware in mind, and this won't be an exception. It will look good. It won't look UC3 good. 2) He implies that resolution (1080p vs. 720p) and framerate are the only graphical advantage to the PC version. I *highly* doubt this. The PC will likely have better textures, lighting, and animation. I am super excited for this game, but both sides of this graphics argument are going off the rails. Did DICE mislead some gamers if only by their relative silence on the console version (until the unveil last week)? Yes. Does the PC version look better? Yes. Will the console version be the best looking console game ever? No. Will it look bad? No. Will it be the best looking cross-platformer? Probably. And the most important question: will the game be awesome on all platforms? YES. Stop worrying.
It actually does. If you want a higher player count then you need to play it on the PC. Buying a game simply for a slight graphical improvement is stupid if you ask me. If you don't care about the player difference then just buy it for your preferred system. Easy enough.
yup cuz you know the 64 player maps are gonna be bigger crammed with tons more armor and airfields full of jets and choppers im guessing console versions will get the 16-32 player size maps like bf2
I agree. There is obviously more than one difference between the PC and Console version
Pc version is best
Depends on your PC to some extent, now doesn't it? But if you've got a solid PC, yeah.
Unless you need a higher player count, greater draw distance, better graphics, and possibly bigger maps then no, it doesn't matter. There is nothing wrong with getting the console version though. You will still have plenty of fun.
Ah the multiplayer - the only real marked difference (gameplay wise) between the PC and console versions.
That and keyboard and mouse which is a lot more accurate than a DS3.
keyboard and mouse sucked since 2000 .... gamepads/controllers are the way to game ... instead of having an orgy of keyboard buttons and a gaping mouse
hope you've got a good enough PC to play it on...
I sure hope I do. Lately from the pictures and videos I am starting to think that this will be the first game I can't max out on...
Two benefits consoles have that is generally overlooked: 1) Less hackers, and no need for gimpy solutions like Punkbuster. I've yet to run into any BFBC2 hackers on PSN. 2) Having a uniform control scheme and uniform hardware helps level the playing field. I'm not denying the PC benefits. Just saying consoles do have some of their own. And while the mouse is indeed more accurate, when everyone has the same controls, you don't notice it (well I don't anyway). @Shackdaddy836: Yeah, BF2 was similar in that very few people could max it out when it first hit the shelves. It sure was purty if you could though (for the time).
I'm still not sure which platform to get it on, PC or PS3. I hope they release a MP beta to the public like MOH so I can see if my PC can handle it.
Did you watch E3? They announced they will be releasing a BETA FOR ALL PLATFORMS in September :) This, on the kimmy fallon show was pre-alpha footage remember. If you've got the money get it on pc (need money for right pc, powerful enough to run it) and also I prefer playing with analoge sticks (ps3 pad) and not mouse - personal preference ...
I'll get BF3 on my PS3, no need to over complicate things just for a bit better graphics and a higher play count.
You the kind of person who can't handle anything beyond inserting a disk into a slot and pressing play?
Lol my 12 year old brother plays on PC and finds it more convenient in comparison to console. No need to worry about disks. Click game on Steam "play". Much easier then finding disks all the time, good riddance. @gloom_nes Cant be hard if a 12 year old finds it easy.
Maybe he's the kind of person who owns a PS3, and not a PC, eh? That might explain his platform of choice. Exactly why does it require you to start hurling petty, baseless insults his way? Grow up.
@Pandamobile lol, that is funny.
lol spot on. PC version for me no doubt. think we should start a N4G clan on BFBC2 for PC and then take over BF3 when it arrives.
And your the kind of person that thinks so highly of pc gaming? I said "over complicating" because my pc is not a gaming pc. I would have to buy the latest graphics card, some RAM, etc. I prefer to play BF3 on my PS3 with my PSN friends, is that a problem?
Please learn to accept the fact that not everyone buys PC games and crazy high spec PC rigs in order to talk out of their ass...
360 version for me, thats where I play my FPS's at.
You have my condolences.
Once again an internet tough guy who thinks he's special because he games on a PS3/PC. Do you know PS3's & PC's are available to the public? Anybody can buy one. Dude, you're not special. Don't listen to mommy. She's being nice.
I'm guessing JerryKurl is a mult of LaChance since he seemed to take my post so personally. Relax bro, it's just the internet.
So you want the worst version? Right.... can xbox even run full hd? NO... But can run 600p cod ... haha... (it's true http://forum.beyond3d.com/s... <--- link to source
The 360 version being the worst is a ps3 fanboy myth made up from fear of the ps3 version ending up inferior. Don't buy into the EA/Dice PS3 patronizing hype, these companies know the only way to sell games to ps3 fanboys is to praise ps3 like a god. They have to put ps3 up on a pedestal before PS fans except a game for what it is and not just another 360 game ported ovet to ps3, in there minds.
You give PS3 owners a bad name... besides which, you weren't trying to talk up graphics and HD when you owned a PS2 Vs. an original Xbox owner.
. I buy ALL multi-plats on 360...learned that lesson a long time ago. Best controller by far, best on-line and best OS...no comparison. The PS3 has a nice selection this year with Resistance being the one game that will be day one. In regards to all the talk about graphics up above, Crysis 2 will be tough to beat on consoles this year. Gears 3 also looks incredible. I don`t want anymore excuses from Dice, I don`t see how their game will be able to top this... http://youtu.be/mW8bMnkZozQ http://youtu.be/kF67XFXq_ys Stealth game play as well... http://youtu.be/GE0EsXcR2uA
PC or GTFO.
So as far as you're concerned, if you only own a home console you shouldn't bother playing Battlefield 3?
Don't worry, PS3 and 360 owners won't be crowding your matches.
oh,so THAT is mature pc gamer.ha!
I would not think it matters its all based on personal taste. I have played BF games since 1942 on PC with the exception of BFBC2 on PS3. So i am getting BF3 on PC.
I waiting to see how good the xbox version looks, If its as good as the ps3 il get it for xbox. If ps3's better il get it for ps3
Then you will be looking for piddly differences, Prepare to get that handy microscope as with any multiplat release there is almost no difference between the consoles. PC version on the other hand :P
PC or bust.
well it really comes down to what systems you have.... but.... if you have even a mediocre pc in your house with a good dual core cpu and 4gb ram, do yourself a favor, pick up a $100-$300 gpu and say goodbye to console gaming except for the really good exclusives like i did years ago... i still have my consoles and love them,i am loving infamous 2 right now, but if it was on pc, that's where i'd be playing it.
I am a long time console player from child hood & have been playing on PC for about a year and a half. Besides just graphics. I like using keyboard & mouse now! Even if the ps3 version was the best looking version I would still play on pc! I find that it's more immersive to aim a virtual gun with my right arm rather than with my right thumb.. Plus the dedicated servers..
For BF3 it would be better if you did it on PC (if you have it or plan on having one). I mean, you will still have a lot of fun on console, but nothing beats that feeling when you have two good 32-player teams facing off. People naturally make a front line with medics running back and forth, bullets and rockets wiz by your head as you try to find cover, jets fly by attacking tanks in the back of the front as they fire on the other team, grenades blast all around you, pushes are made and then repelled, etc. It's why I'm such a big BF fan...
