With that controller I don't think so. I don't have anything against the controller, but I feel that most games(multiplatform mainly) will tack on the the controller's uses causing aspects where you have to use the Wii U controller to feel gimmicky. Most gamers are fine with using a traditional controller. When was the last time you heard/seen a huge mass of gamers cry about a certain game not having Kinect or Move functionality. I like motion controls as an option not something that is mandatory, but that's just my opinion.

The Nintendo fanboy DarkCharizard_ will certainly disagree with me. =/

To answer the last question of the article:

"What do you think Nintendo needs to do with the Wii U to win the hardcore audience?"

The same thing Sony/Microsoft needs to in order to get the hardcore on the Move/Kinect: Make a game that is inhumanly great that can only be done, in Nintendo case, on the Wii U that is not Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. and follow it up with more great games.

From everything we've been hearing, it looks like the Wii U controller will only be one option of many. The few games we have heard about also use the Classic controller pro if you don't want the "gimmicky" gameplay.

Dont mention other ppl names yo. ur attracting war XD. i think it will attract . lets how nintendo approaches the hardcore gamers ( which does not mean guns and blood )

Obviously I disagree. If you say "Most gamers are fine with using a traditional controller" ya I agree, so am I, but then the industry would be boring and dull if every console had the same ****ing input. I personally like the idea of the new Wii U pad, and think it might trump the classic controller in many ways while helping to ease the gaming experience (HUD in your palm ftw!).

I love how you called it a "gimmick" while calling motion controls as an option you like. I'm sure when Sony rips the Wii U controller, you'll be gushing at how cool this "gimmick" is. That's the way you Sony fanboys roll, and thats okay...

Thanks for calling me out anyways :D

Peace.

You didn't understand what I was trying to say.

This is about hardcore gamers. I'm saying that some multiplatform games will just TACK on the Wii U controls causing that particular game to feel gimmicky on the Wii U thus gamers would rather just play the game on the PS3/360 without the gimmicks.

Thus in order for the Wii U to attract the hardcore Nintendo needs to make a game that is inhumanly great that can only be done on the Wii U that is not Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.(because Nintendo needs a new ICONIC franchise let's be honest) and follow it up with more great games.

Just to let you know I don't even have the Move yet as there is no GREAT games that require me to get the Move and there are no Great games that have the Move as option that makes the gaming experience better.

And I don't really like senseless fanboy wars, I just like seeing how far people will go to defend their favorite console/company. :)

i believe they kind of waited too long the new PS/Xbox are well in development

I can't think of any idea what they an add on the new upcoming xbox/PS console.
So i think except of any graphic update (like they did with the current gen) they can't do anything else ( I mean something unique )
(I have an 360 though :p

They're already doing it

Then it'll be a done deal for the success of the system.

It has all the features that core gamers would want from a console.Which would be hypocritical of them if they frowned upon this system(unless they're a one console owner).
