Wii U will 'melt away' third-party hurdles

The high definition capabilities of the Wii U and its processing ability in relation to Xbox 360 and PS3 will enable many of the key third-party franchises to appear on the platform, Nintendo global president Satoru Iwata has said during a post-E3 Q&A session.

"So, some of the hardware limitations that have been a hurdle for those developers to create their games on our console, are going to melt away when we move to Wii U because it is an HD system," said Iwata. (Wii U)

The big third parties during the SNES ignored it (with the sole exception of 3rd parties in Japan). EA, Sony, and Activision made most of their games on the Genesis.

The big third parties during the N64 ignored it completely. The PS1 got all of the 3rd-party games.

The big third parties ignored the Gamecube. They said it was because "sales were low" even though they ported everything under the sun to the Xbox.

The big third parties ignored the Wii. When it sold a bunch, they sent their D-teams to make crappy minigame collections (which - big surprise - did not sell).

So magically 3rd parties are gonna support the Wii U? How dumb can Ninendo get?

FYI EA & Activision weren't big at all in the early 90's. Instead Konami, Square Enix, Capcom etc had all the power and influence.. Not to mention the best games and they published a lot of great titles for the SNES. Genesis had crappy third party support.

N64 and GCN? Ignored my ass. They had a great number of third party games, only playstation had more.

Wii? The big multi-platform games can't be done in the same manner as PS360 because of obvious hardware limitations, but third party devs definitely support it. All the CoD games are there, RE4, Monster Hunter Tri, Just Dance, Dragon Quest, Muramasa, Madworld, Sonic Colors, Zack & Wiki, Red Steel series, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Epic Mickey, Goldeneye, Conduit series, No more heroes series and dead space extraction just to name a FEW.

Nintendo is obviously pushing shooters and western 3rd party games with Wii U and without a doubt, it will get great support from them.

You clearly need to brush up your facts..

"However, Call of Duty, the biggest franchise of them all, didn't make the list." Oh c'mon. They went to the effort of gimping their games for the Wii, now they can just port the games over. They're going to put their games on every console under the sun, regardless of power.
