E3 2011: Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 – The Killin’ Nazi Business is a Boomin’ - RipTen

RipTen: Brothers in Arms has always been praised for its dedication to historical accuracy. The story of Staff Sergeant Matthew Baker is a beloved one steeped in realism. Furious 4, however, is the exact opposite. It’s a tall tale of four men fighting the war on German soil, killing Nazis and getting that sweet, sweet revenge that we were rewarded with in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

I dig the Inglorious similarity. Scalp me some Nazis!

Killing Nazis is the most PC approved killing.

I for one would welcome a new Brothers in Arms, but hopefully it wouldn't be Ubisofted into a microtransactions extravaganza. If the game doesn't take place in WW2 anymore I'd enjoy seeing a modern day one where China is the enemy. China is the most dangerous country to America and what they have been doing to their own people, Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is time someone shows just how dangerous the Chinese government is. I personally feel sorry for the Chinese citizens, because the way the government abuses their people and it is about time a company is brave enough to show the truth, because it in a game or movie.

I used to love BiA was my favorite WW2 franchise back on Xbox, it was so much more grounded and the characters were very compelling.

"Furious 4 Was Tremendously Good",....look so good we cancel it!What a BS talk from this Fellow!

Kumakai1618d ago

I worked on that trailer. I did the graphical animations/treatments as each character was introduced (inspired by the movie snatch). My office mate directed it.

Gearbox invested more in Battleborn than Borderlands 1 and 2 combined, new Brothers In Arms

From GameWatcher: "During a Polygon podcast, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford revealed some interesting facts about their upcoming team shooter Battleborn, which will be a full priced game with 25 heroes from 5 factions to pick from.

For starters, Battleborn is by far the studio's biggest investment in its history. Pitchford stated that more resources have gone into the game than Borderlands 1 and 2 combined. Of the 300 staff at Gearbox, roughly 80% of them have been allocated to work on the shooter.

This is running the risk of being 'flop of the year', then.

Ron_Danger2983d ago

Have you played it yet?? I was in the closed stress test and I loved it. It's basically 5 player co op Borderlands mixed with Destiny Strike Missions. Plus there's 25 playable characters (each with 20 skills that you choose 10 of in each mission) and you level up each character independently outside of the missions, plus you level up your own personal profile. It's an impressive annount of replayability and content.

EcoSos32983d ago

I was in test and as much as I wanted to like the game it didn't happen. It went from a must buy (just because of gearbox) to just meh.

Mikefizzled2983d ago

No, but the game is seriously missing some intangible marketability. I keep an open mind with games and their trailers but I've learned very little from everything I've seen.

3-4-52983d ago

Destiny Strikes missions = boring.

Borderlands 1&2 with it's story and collecting guns & loot = fun.

Mega242983d ago

They really should have invested in a borderland 3, with a more mmo style to it, and some pvp. I was a Tester for Battleborn, and the game felt really weak, I think Paragon(By Epic) will beat it with ease.

rdgneoz32983d ago

Yah, I tried the Battleborn beta and it was OK at best. The PvP was fun (a ton of characters to choose from, though some felt worthless compared to others), but the campaign was eh. It (the campaign) was trying to be like a Borderlands, but the co-op got boring after a bit when you're having to start every match over from level one and can't use half your abilities for the first half of the level.

Hopefully the game sells so we can get a new current gen Borderlands.

so far i have not become enamored with battleborn

LightofDarkness2983d ago (Edited 2983d ago )

Well then I think we're about to see Gearbox go under, sadly. Regardless, I would imagine Borderlands will be snapped up by someone relatively quickly if it happens, so don't be too disheartened.

I fail to see how developers and publishers have yet to grasp the idea that unless you are the first established game of the "phenomenon", you won't get a look in. Being a "me too" game will net you very little for your efforts. It is almost exclusively true for online and competitive games. DOTA and LOL have success because they directly inherit from DOTA (same creators), the original, unlicensed IP. No MMO has come close to WoW, despite repeated, idiotic attempts at replicating its success by cloning it. COD reigns supreme yet still as the de facto modern military twitch shooter, despite more missteps than a dancing hobo, and despite the entire last generation having apparently been made in its image. Seriously, if imitation is the highest form of flattery, the above games and its developers must be more flattered than Jesus Christ on Christmas day.

It doesn't matter if the game you made is better, prettier or has the marketing might of Disney behind it, you weren't the one to capture lightning in a bottle. You can go hang out at a Faraday Cage with as many bottles as you want, it's not going to be the lightning. If you really want that, go be creative and keep evolving your ideas until something catches on.

I have never read something truer. Well said.

Devil's Third looks amazing. I have been looking forward to it since that E3 back in 2010. If it does release this year it will be a day one buy for me. Although I would obviously see how things have changed in the past 4 years before buying. Maybe we will see it at E3 this year.
As for the other games none of them really grab my attention and I hadn't even heard of some of them.
One game I expected to be on the list that wasn't was Sacreligium. That game has been lost in development but had a lot of potential to be a great game

Lord_Sloth3681d ago

Agreed on DT. I've been anxious to try it out since it's 1st trailer. Still hopeful.

eaise3681d ago

Well there has been news that it will release this year. So fingers crossed that we will see it at E3 in a few months

psman0123681d ago

I'm surprised to not see Agent on the list!!

joydestroy3681d ago (Edited 3681d ago )

yeah looks like that one is never coming out
edit: maybe they're bringing it to PS4?

ATi_Elite3680d ago

I'm surprised DOOM 4 is not on that list along with that silly Half Life 3 game we have been waiting for for like 2 millennium

ShreddingRuen3680d ago

I was going for more "games that were announced / revealed and then fell off the face of the Earth."

But I'll more than likely have a list of franchises that need another installment.

incendy353681d ago

Beyond Good and Evil 2 would be so welcome.

Jyndal3681d ago

I keep wondering if we're ever going to see a Black & White 3. Not that it was ever said that there would be, but it's one of those series that I feel the potential was never fully realized.

jay23681d ago

"Devil's Third"
As already announced, we'll finally reveal "Devil's Third" this year!
You can see that we've upgraded our title logo.
I wanted to go for the metallic feeling of the Breitling that I love so much.
But I don't really wanna tell you exactly why, sorry;D https://www.facebook.com/to...
