IGN: Child of Eden Review

There's something about Child of Eden that makes people shut up and fixate on the screen. It could be because you're entranced by the colors bursting artfully in tandem with upbeat techno music or just the thought of, "Holy crap, am I tripping right now?" Either way, this is a title that people take notice of and for good reason. Child of Eden, a spiritual successor to Tetsuya Mizuguchi's cult sensation Rez, is an incredibly satisfying time, but it's one that can be over shortly after it begins.

Looks like Kinect got another must have game

Sunhammer2351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

2 hours long. What a scam. I love how IGN reviews only matter when a game you care about scores "good."

The most I'd pay for Child of Eden is $5. Probably less, considering most downloadable games are triple the length for the same price.

Unacceptable.

Active Reload2351d ago (Edited 2351d ago )

Really? How much does it cost though?

Edit: Oops, it costs $50, it says at the end of the review.

Vanquish was "five hours long".

Doesn't mean I didn't play that game for thirty hours, way longer than any other shooter, at least in this generation.

So, yeah.

Vanquish was pure adreneline and fun, loved it.

"After trying both control options for Child of Eden, I found that I preferred Kinect's superior responsiveness. Yes, Kinect makes navigating Eden's databases far easier. In fact, the analog sticks seem clunky compared to swiftly moving your hand around the screen."

Eurogamer said the exact opposite of this. Interesting. Amazon.com already shipped mine, I hope it arrives today so I can see for myself.

IGN is payed to endorse Kinect, end of story.

Any site that gives any 360/Kinect game a good review is automatically considered "in MS pocket" on this site. What has the Sony side even more pissy than usual is this game is scoring higher than Infamous 2. So any site giving this game a higher review is apparently on MS payroll.

Welcome to N4G/N4S

It's out for the Move/PS3 too

Actually so far reviewers whether good or bad scores say that Kinect is no good in this game and prefer the controller. IGN is the only on to say otherwise

Are you insane? That's what I said. Besides IGN, so far other reviewers said they prefer the controller.Maybe you would take the time to read what I said instead of calling me names and attacking me. I mean gamers are so sensitive. I didn't even say anything was wrong with the game. So what if they prefer a controller? Geez. @ testerg35 sorry your right. Trolling other people's articles is your job.Don't want to step on any toes. I just said other reviewers prefered the controller and everyone goes balistic. What's wrong with you people? I didn't even try to put the game down. I was rooting for it to be good too.

cool, REZ was awesome

I played this at my local Best Buy (with Kinect.) I didn't enjoy it much. I find the game itself interesting, but the kinect controls are clunky. You have to push fairly hard to shoot, hard enough that it seems like a long play period might hurt my arm a bit. Also, when you push forward the reticle continues to move, so it becomes shaky mid-shot. Overall, the Kinet wasn't really accurate at detecting my hand and had a bit of glitching out. It may have been the lighting conditions at the Best Buy. Is this game a retail game?
