Infamous 2 Second Opinion - I Want My Game of the Year Pick Back (StrengthGamer)

Ryan Taillon of StrengthGamer.com writes, "Let me just start off by saying that I was a tremendous fan boy of the first Infamous. You can ask anyone on the StrengthGamer crew how much I adored that game. So you can imagine my excitement when Infamous 2 was announced. While my game of the year vision was not realized, Sucker Punch still managed to produce a viable sequel but fell well short of my expectations."

The game is by far, better than the first one. And it can run easily for the title of best game of the year.

This article just looks like a copycat of some trendy zines that are just not accurate as they were by the past, making reviews and news for clicks. The article poorly written, as usual with Strenghtgamer, with some random feelings and very cheap commentary.

Gamers know this game is a fucking hit, i hope all the gamers that can play this game are playing it at the moment.

AvidGamerrrr2352d ago

It's his opinion. If he doesn't like it, it's not wrong. Infamous 2 is getting far lower scores than it's predecessor. He isn't alone in these feelings.

disturbing_flame2352d ago

Well i give also my opinion then.

Problem ?

thief2352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

The three lowest reviews were from Edge, Gamepro and Gamespot – 6 or 7. All these three sites gave Halo ODST a 9/10. They also gave Halo 3 10/10, with Edge calling it the “most innovative shooter of 2007 and 2008.”
Enuff said.

Whats more important, if you check user reviews on Metacritic and Amazon, infamous 2 is among the best rated games around. If you love games – forget the “critic” scores, buy this game.

@Disturbing_flame

The problem is your flaunting your opinion like it's the "right" opinion.

mastiffchild2352d ago

It's also not getting far lower scores than it's predecessor. It might not be getting the GOTY scores many hoped it might but like the first I imagine those who like it will absolutely love it and this guy's opinion seems way OTT and fails to, as I would have to if talking about even games I don't really like, accept and give credit for the ways it's improved and as he fails to do this I can't take him seriously.

IDK why writers feel they have to hammer things just because they aren't EXACTLY what they'd have liked themselves as things rarely are and these guys fail to give credit even where it'as due and if you can't see the quality EVEN if something's not quite to your taste then you shouldn't be informing others on this subject.

Pintheshadows2352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

I'd say it's getting far better scores but who the fuck CARES.

Just to clarify. About the scores from other places. My score is the only one I care about and its 10.

"Now I can take a difficult game just like the next guy, but when the checkpoints are so sporadic you end up playing the same part over and over and over again I can't help but want to turn it off. This could have been easily remedied by creating a checkpoint with every new wave of enemies or after a certain amount of enemies killed."

Seriously?? I just completed my run on hard mode and it was actually quite easy. Dying was a rarity on my 2nd playthrough. Sure the first run you've gotta get use to how your enemies attack you, but once you've figured it out its a piece of cake. Moving around alot is the secret, you can't just stand there like an idiot.

"To make matters worse, most of these times you will be under gunfire and end up dead, which leads to checkpoint issues, pacing problems, and eventually a powered down Playstation 3."

You sound like a rage quitter and you have no business doing game reviews, ever.

Oh and as far as the new voice actor goes I thought he did a great job and it fit Cole perfectly. The original Cole had no personality. He sounded like he was pissed off all the time. Even if you were the hero he still sounded like an ass. The new Cole seems like an actual person, and someone you could like as a hero or hate as the villain.

Plus not everyone can have what they want. Its like the saying 'A camel is a horse designed by committee'. Meaning if someone gave their idea of what a perfect horse 'should' be, then a bunch of other people gave their ideas, they would all be different and thus making it into a camel.

Pintheshadows2352d ago

I don't trust any article that starts with " I really really liked the first one but...".

How am I supposed to know if that is true. The fact he is criticising things that were worse in the first game. He could just be lying.

Also Infamous 2 has fine checkpoints. I'm guessing this guy has only been playing games for this gen if he finds it hard.

God knows what would happen if he played Demons Souls.

Tikicobra2352d ago

This game is so much better than the first game. Everything, from the gameplay to the presentation, is vastly improved. I'm loving the game.

SuperStrokey11232352d ago

Agreed, this is an exceptional game so far.

Graphics2352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

I can't really comment on your statement, I am like 5 hours in the game and so far it feels exactly like infamous 1. Have yet to notice anything thats different except for of course the new powers. To me so far the core game is exactly the same. In the first 5 mins of the game I thought the entire experience would be different but so far I have been fooled.

xX TriiCKy Xx2352d ago

Don't fix what aint broke...

ash_divine2352d ago

The changes aren't dramatic, but by the end of the game it really will feel abit different from the first.

Pintheshadows2352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

So you wanted a new game? Or did you buy a sequel?

If the answer to the second question is YES then why are you complaining? Were you expecting Parappa the Rapper with superpowers?

Graphics2352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

@Pintheshadows

Im replying to what Tikicobra wrote, Read what he wrote then what I wrote.

Also where in my comment did I ever complain?

"After a few hours Cole sounds just like another whiny kid from a Final Fantasy game."

nothing about that makes any sense.

"And speaking of dying you should be prepared to do it quite a bit."

i'm 28 missions in, and can count my deaths on one hand. i guess this guy just sucks at the game.

"When taking on one of their missions it is so clear to see that one is "evil" and the other one is "pure". It would've been so amazing if some of the choices were grey and you couldn't really tell what the "right" thing to do was."

the Karma system needs a straight good and evil to work properly. even though Nix does thing a lot more destructively, it's easy to sympathies with her, and i can understand where she is coming from.

JBaby3432352d ago (Edited 2352d ago )

I've died but not enough to get frustrated so I don't understand his beef either.

Regarding the karma system, most choices in life are pretty black/white. Emotions are what make things seem gray much of the time but separate that and it's usually pretty obvious what the right thing to do is. Even though we get involved in the game we are still outside of it with no bearing on our lives so the right and wrong choices are pretty clear. This guy just wants to complain.

Redempteur2352d ago

"Not so in the sequel, within the first hour I had died six times"

Man he just suck at the game ...

i'm nearly finished and i've only died 3 times ... it's pretty easy to survive in this game and there is no reward/penality nfrom dying .. so why the rant ?
