Xbox has partnered with GAME UK to offer you a not so good deal which only seems to line the pockets of the retailer rather than have the consumers interests at heart.
Only idiots trade in at game.. cex and gamestation (using match it price and pulling up cex prices off your phone) are the places to trade in.
You're better off trading in games at Cex but hardware is usually the same in both stores. Btw Game, Gamestation and Gameplay are the same company. Beware.
People still don't get it! Say you trade your console to them. "IF" they resell it, they make a profit! ... But what if they never sell it? The goal of these deals are to move new product, which is why they offer you this to get you to buy new sh*t! You guys must value oldsh*t! Because when I look at an old console, I just wonder how many miles it has on it. I guarantee you, there are only a small amount of gamers looking for old systems. Most want the new slim models. They already have tons of used and refurbished consoles in stock that they can't sell! The goal is to sell new consoles!
Classic Troll! So where is the proof that this is endorsed or in any way related to MS? Sounds more like to me what GAME is doing is business as usual. I don't know why people get their pants twisty, but the fact is having a 50% profit margin isn't that great considering the risks and costs of running a business. The 10-20 extra GBP might not be worth the effort and hassle of selling it yourself.
Sony did this at Gamestop. Trade in your old fat PS3 + 100 bucks for the new slim PS3. It's an option. Don't get your panties in a bunch over nothing.
Yeah I know it's just business. It's not like you're being forced to use the offer.
Same situation I explained above!

of course so dose nintendo and Sony because they all allow them to sell there items and resell them with out any fees
Are making £29.99 on an old console that they also have to give a 3 month guarantee with, it's a bit of a gamble I would say. Making under £30 on an old xbox knowing the problems they had isn't the rip off you all are making out. I certainly wouldn't do it. Also you'd be lucky to get £60 for selling one on eBay, so its a pretty good deal if you want a slim. Also nobody is twisting your arm to sell one, keep it as back up and stop whining.
the standard elite trades in at £60 or £80 promo towards the slim, That aint that bad a deal . Even with a pre owned unit game give you the exact same guarentee as a new, And if a pre owned unit does die they cant get it replaced by the manufacture game has to swallow the loss.
That's becuz Microsoft themselves are the masters of rip off...
trading things in are worth pennies nowadays. I stopped shopping at GAME ever since they bought out Gamestation. Gamestation was the best place to trade anything in. But GAME had to ruin it.
That is not a bad offer for a game store trade-in. It is pretty standard actually compared to all the previous trade-ins on new consoles. Trade-in values are usually determined by the game store so I am not sure how this has to do with Microsoft at all. Most people don't know how to sell things online and find this to be the simple solution. If they knew better they could get double their money. People's lack of knowledge is the game store's gain and that's the way of the world and why they stay in business. If people knew games were cheaper, better quality, and could be sold for more online why would anyone go to a game stop except pre-order content. Even that is not convincing anymore.
Uhhh... it just sounds like capitalism to me... :P The title to this article could also be, "Microsoft supports retailer making profit."
