G4- Final Fantasy XIII-2 E3 Gameplay Demo

G4: "Final Fantasy returns with a new sequel. Join Adam Sessler and Candace Bailey as they talk to Square Enix's Parker Sapp about Final Fantasy XIII-2's improved battle system, cinematic action and more."

The story is too old to be commented.

never played a FF does this look better than XIII since everyone had a problem with it?

Kon2743d ago

"never played a FF game"

MintBerryCrunch2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

not my type of game i guess

edit: @below....i meant im not into JRPGs....i've seen my friends play it and most of them are big fans of the series, yet i really never saw the appeal, hence why i said its not my type of game, i get a lot of crap from them because of it, ....hopefully that clears it up

Infernostew2743d ago

So you've never played one but it's not your type of game? Can you make that assumption without at least giving it a shot?

Michael-Jackson2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

The battle system looks the same, which is not what I was hoping for, quick time events and tweaked Preemptive Strike = lame, some people hated the battle system because you can only control 1 character and auto-battle is still an option. There's only minor improvements, In other words this does not look better at the moment.

The maps look kinda better, not as linear but still, that's not saying much.

Noel might be a good character, who knows.

and you know the rest, linear, towns, Hope, Snow and Vanille (I only hate Hope but these characters are the most hated from what I read online), lack of customization - armors.

Conclusion - Looks the same, not looking great but will have to wait and see.

I also thought XIII was a great game, it just wasn't traditional RPG.

MaxXAttaxX2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

Well gameplay (battle-wise) seems the same.
And according to the guy interviewed, no towns still.

That dude looks like a rip from Sora(KH) attire wise.

iamtehpwn2743d ago

Toriyama has stated himself there will be towns.

MaxXAttaxX2743d ago

They just said there won't be towns(real functioning towns).

Only areas(towns) you pass by for story purposes only. Similar to the way we saw in the original XIII.

squallheart2743d ago

really Nathan? o.o now that sounds like a way to cop out for them. They probably heard the complaints and said fine well give them towns, insert some props and done, who cares if they cant interact.

Otheros002743d ago

No he looks more like a clone of Tidus. His hair and face looks almost exactly like Tidus.

Didn't have a problem with it here :) Great game IMO. Played'em all and XIII was fine.

Mottsy2743d ago

ya same here for sure a fan boy of FF .. grew up on it after all. But curious to how that monster crystalize thing he was talking about. hopefully we will hear some more about it soon

Breadisgood2743d ago

I love Final Fantasy as well but XIII was a massive let down in my opinion.

Each to his own I guess.

Michael-Jackson2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

Where's Snow?

rabidpancakeburglar2743d ago

Probably sitting in his house shouting "HERO".

Zanarkand2743d ago

There's really no reason to bash XIII so much, it was a great game setting apart from what we used to enjoy but because in this era, you won't see something as great as FFVII and FFX. Also this game will be a day 1 for sure.

Breadisgood2743d ago

Lost Odyssey was like the older Final Fantasy games and it was miles better than FFXIII in my opinion.

You're basically saying "we shouldn't expect them to be as good these days" but why shouldn't we? Square Enix dropped the ball, plain and simple.

Zanarkand2743d ago

That one slipped my mind, haven't played the game itself because i don't own a 360 but i heard my share of things and i won't doubt it. Again, without Squaresoft and its mastermind what can you expect?

Troll-without-Bridge2743d ago

Lost odyssey had tons of issues that made if average. Slow pacing, tedious grinding, monotonous world travel, and many other things that hamper the experience.
