GCM - Planet Crashers 3D Review

GCM - Being the owner of Nintendo's latest line of gaming systems, I'm used to seeing a large number of downloadable games to choose from. The 3DS is no exception as I already own a few choice titles myself. One of the latest titles to hit the 3DS eShop is Planet Crashers, an interestingly cute dungeon based RPG experience.

Planet Crashers 3D Review: Rotten To The Core [Dealspwn]

Dealspwn.com writes: "No amount of visual polish and colourful hub artwork can disguise Planet Crashers 3D's rotten core of unmitigated backtracking, unbalanced progression, hopless mechanics and awful dungeon environments. Even as a time sink, it simply isn't fit for task - it's neither fun nor engaging for any audience of any age.

With luck, Planet Crashers will only be a small blip on Renegade Kid's record, and one that's quickly forgotten. No amount of visual polish and colourful hub artwork can disguise Planet Crashers 3D's rotten core of unmitigated backtracking, unbalanced progression, hopless mechanics and awful dungeon environments. Planet Crashers Review | Trendy Gamers

Planet Crashers really wasn’t on my gaming radar at all this year, until I learned that Renegade Kid was the team behind it. They’ve been mainstays on the 3DS eShop and have made great titles such as Mutant Mudds and Bomb Monkey. With Planet Crashers, it is their foray into the RPG genre by having a young cadet go off on a mission to save the sun from being extinguished by travelling from planet to planet, levelling up to get strong enough to save the universe. Sadly, it doesn’t nearly live up to the high quality of games we’ve come to expect from Renegade Kid.

It was such a shame the game turned out how it did, not so much for the way the game is designed, but for the fact that the 3DS version doesn't have the GPS feature promised in the Smartphone version. It would have made the game really dynamic and unique, but instead, it kind of turned into standard fare for me.

How much is the mobile version?

Argus94289d ago

You know, it's hard to say. The main web site doesn't say anything yet, but you can find snippets of information around the net. Unfortunately, a price point wasn't one of them.

I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up around $2-$3.

actually there are better reviews for this game, around 7 - 8,5 so game is worth a try

Argus94288d ago

Venox, it's not as simple as looking at the numbers. If you want some real insight into why we rated the game the way we did, you should actually read the review and see the points we made. Everyone's tastes are different, and if you enjoy the stuff that, say, I didn't, you may find the game more enjoyable.

If it was as simple as throwing a number on a game, we wouldn't write 1200+ words in the review.

Well said, Argus9. One of the best responses I've seen.

Certainly, you're welcome to your opinion of a game, but 5/10 doesn't get handed out without evidence to back up the claim. If a game is being given ratings ranging from 5/10 to 8/10, it's definitely worth your time to read the reviews and decide for yourself whether or not the game is right for you.

Yeah, and if you read those reviews it sounds like the writers spent only an hour or two with the game.

Planet Crashers is excruciating. I'm not exaggerating when I say the game offered me the same fetch quest four times on the first planet (Lushie Green).

Battles also aren't worth it unless you're fighting to complete a quest. They give you barely any experience points.
