PlayStation Vita (previously Next Generation Portable (NGP)) FAQs
Why no mgs4? i know it's was a capabilities vid...but i still want it.
Q: Which carrier will users need to subscribe to use the 3G networks? A: Partnering with AT&T, which powers the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network, who will serve as the EXCLUSIVE service provider for PS Vita in the United States. Looks like its att boys
Q: Are you getting this Day 1? A: Is the Pope religious?!
I reserved where I'm gonna set up my tent for the midnight launch for $10 already.
"Q:What game format will the PS Vita use?" "A: PS Vita will utilize the new game medium." That sure clears things up lol
Q: What kind of game medium will PS Vita support? What is the official name? Why did you decide to introduce it? A: It is a small flash memory based card, dedicated for PS Vita. Taking advantage of the flash memory feature, this innovative card can store add-on game content or the game save directly on the card. By adopting flash memory based card, SCE will be able to provide game cards with higher capacity in the future, allowing developers to store more game data to deliver rich, immersive games. We will announce the official name at a later date. It does clear it up somewhat. Being able to increase the capacity of the game cards easily in the future sounds interesting
I noticed there were a lot of repeated questions.
I think is great that all game saves and add ons are stored on the game card itself, instead of the HDD or whatever storage media they choose.
Here's a picture of the new card format; http://cache.gawkerassets.c...
they talked about the other media capabilities like flash, using youtube, skype, and remote play and they said they will announce details later on. Im pretty sure at least the majority of the apps on the psp or the most popular ones will return on launch day. Do you think netflix will be able day 1?
Flash/youtube/netflix/hulu/pdf e book reader support would be awesome. I would really like to see apps for this, I will definitely be picking one of these up. I am curious about the 3g aspect. Do I have to purchase a sim card from att? I am already a customer is it included with my plan? What is the size of on-board memory, I realize the use of flash cards but damn is it gonna be like the psp with those lame ass cards that I gotta swap in and out to play or will there be enough memory to store things like my internet settings/game saves/etc....? Why would they not throw a couple of gigs in there for dedicated storage. A thumb drive can be bought for 5 bucks at staples, I would assume they could pick them up for pennies on the dollar. These are questions I want answered
So we can choose our memory storage? Sweet.
Good and bad, an ipod touch has what like 32-64gb on board. I am wondering if they are gonna make up with the low price point of the device by charging an arm and a leg for the memory like when the psp first came out. Heres hoping that this memory base is a little more moderate priced this go around
I love PS Vita
sorry this will be a complete failure just like the pspgo.
Because he's a killjoy, one of those people who no one invites to parties or get togethers because he is always negatively going on about how everything sucks and what might happen. That's why.
I think the XMB was a brillaint interface: simple, intuitive, efficient. Don't know much about the Vita's interface, but from the screens I've seen... it looks much less so. Just a mess of buttons scattered out on the "desktop." I am... not impressed. "Q: Will you bring all UMD games to the new game medium or on the PlayStation Store for PS Vita?" "A: SCE with the support of third party developers and publishers have been offering select UMD titles on PlayStation Store and will continue our effort to deliver these content in the form of game medium for PS Vita going forward. However, we will need to clear all copyright / legal related issues and due to this not all software titles will become available on PS Vita. We will announce details for each title when ready." Translation: Only 1% of PSP titles will be added to the store: only super-popular games. If you like more niche titles (RPGs, sims, arcade combat, etc.) YOU ARE SCREWED. This is exactly like the PS3 b/c removal bullshit. They justified getting rid of emulation by saying they'd make it up with HD ports of "all our favorite PS2 titles." What did we get? It's been, what, three years, and we only have 3 or 4 ports total? Total BS. I love a lot of Sony games. I love the PSP and PS3 hardware. But I've got to say, virtually every decision they've made over the past few years has been infuriating.
I know this is a weird thing to notice, but thank god we dnt have removable batteries literally every psp owner i've known has broken the back to his/her at some point or another and they have to work to make sure their battery doesn't just fall out(obviously this doesn't apply to the pspgo, but it wasn't nearly the size of this thing)
in an interview with GS a rep said the vita uses proprietary memory cards, please let that be false!
