There's just not much to be said about Sony's conference this year. It was by no means bad, but it wasn't all that memorable either. The PS Vita news was helpful but not stunning, and the games shown looked by-the-numbers.
Sony lots of lots of content it seems Xbox Moving away from their core crowd ... Nintendo.... ummm their new system has way too many gimicks.
Kojima's transfarring feature really struck a blow to Nintendo's new console/controller thing. Its practically the same thing, except with transfarring, you can actually take the game anywhere, but not every game will support it. The WiiU controller can be done with every single game, but only in the vicinity of the console. They both have there ups and downs. As for the rest of those 2 conferences, they had some good moments, and some bad ones. Microsoft was mostly embarrassing again. More Halo, more Gears, more child performances with Kinect.
Isn't it strange that people compare the WiiU controller to NGP and still call it gimmicky?
That's the point, a controller shouldn't be comparable to a handheld console
HOneslty i could care less about the PSVita connectivity wth the ps3 conectivity but the PSvita has alot of power to play games that is what interests me. Yesthe PS Vita has a gimmicky dual touch pad but its a sigh of relief you can play standard games on a standard control scheme on the go with dual analog. In the end of the day the PSVita is a PORTABLE console at its core.....
well it's like Vita only it's cumbersome and can only be played near your console. Sounds gimmicky to me. It's like a non-portable portable system. lol who's giving me bubbles? kind people :)
As a whole, I thought Sony did a fine job this year. They didn't dodge the PSN outage (even going so far as to poke fun at it here and there) and their first party lineup was impressive as ever. As far as the PS3 is concerned, I wasn't exactly blown away by Sony's presentation, mainly because we all kind of knew what to expect. Plus they had so many titles to show off they kind of rushed a few of the presentations. The Resistance 3 demo felt kind of slapped together and hurried and I wish they showed a little more of the game. That's not to say that they didn't have an impressive showing, just that because everyone kind of had an idea of what they were going to show there weren't many surprises. The only game which really caught me off guard was the new Sly Cooper title. The Vita however, WOW. I'm VERY impressed with where Sony is going with their new handheld and I like how they appear to be ramping up a solid lineup for the device's launch rather than making us wait a year or two for some quality content. I also appreciate how they're sticking to creating exclusive content for the device rather than just rehashing PS3 titles. This is an area that concerns me with Nintendo who hasn't done much outside of rehashing old titles for the 3DS. The only thing on the Vita which looks REALLY gimmicky is the rear touchpad. I'd have rather they found a way to put another pair of buttons on the rear of the device (R2 and L2) rather than wasting time, money and resources on something that appears to be more cumbersome than anything else. Probably the most impressive piece of tech demonstrated IMO was the new Playstation branded 3D TV which allows two different players to see two seperate screens on one monitor via active shutter glasses. VERY cool. As a whole, lots of content to look forward to if you own a PS3. Ico+SotC, UC3, R3 and (while it's not an exclusive) by far the most impressive looking game of the year to date, Battlefield 3.
How many evaluations and report cards and whatever are we going to need???
Sly 4 + Vita price = Win
Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo ... all had disappointing conferences.
Counldnt agree more and no price cuts MS - Halo4 Nice, No Killer Instinct boo SONY - UC3 Nice, Cross game chat on vita & not PS3 Boo Nintendo - Just Boo in general
Agreed, this year was pretty much less interesting than last when all three were said and done.
Maybe your expectations are too high :P Can't be 2009 every year, you know.
PSV and Dust 514 as Exclusive amazing announcement. http://www.youtube.com/watc... Is going to be revolutionary in the MMO Genre, and PS3 is the 1st console in the experiment.
not let down, not blown away. it just happened
e3 is the american show they show the shooters and the shiny things tokyo and gdc is where the interesting things show every year
I thought they all were a little disappointing tbh. Microsoft: Bunch of Kinect Sony: Vita, Move, and stuff I already knew. Probably the best one out of the three but still kinda disappointing in a way. Should have gone with more PS3. Nintendo: Bunch of 3DS stuff and showing off a controller. Not even close to what I expected. I'm happy about the console and ssb but still disappointed :( I liked last years a lot better...
Did you guys like my tie? :)
Did anyone notice how Jack poked fun at Kaz about the "Ridge Racer!" thing? That was awesome... Sony didn't even show Twisted Metal or the Last Guardian, yet they still announced Sly 4, Dust and Ruin... Cross PC and PS3 gameplay, and the other with cross Vita and PS3... all good features. They don't need to open with Clone of Duty, as they have enough of their own games. UC3 blew everything away, and R3 looked dam impressive. No one does Invasion like Insomniac. So three more exclusives, a new handheld at a good price, and a nice apology... many people don't realise that the apology wasn't on the Teleprompter...
