Bleszinski: Gears 3 online will be 'very smooth'

Cliff Bleszinski has promised "very smooth" online multiplayer for the launch day of Gears of War 3.

"It's a September 20 launch date with a very smooth online experience," he said, speaking at a Microsoft Q&A session in Los Angeles ahead of this week's E3 expo. "In this day and age you don't want to be a campaign rental, that's the bottom line."

Bleszinski also confirmed Gears of War 3 will support dedicated servers.

Earlier the Epic designer spoke of the need to move on from the studio's troubles with multiplayer in Gears of War 2.

That's what he said about the Gears of War 2 multiplayer.

spektical2626d ago

exactly, and to date, its one of the laggyest, glitchfest multiplayer around. However, the gameplay somewhat makes up for it. lets hope Gears of War 3 delivers the same (gameplay) and improves vastly on multiplayer.

btw 1 hr for SONY!!!

If you didn't play the beta...shut up!

Ya its a "see it to believe" situation I think.

Quite frankly I don't see how they won't finally achieve stable online gameplay. Its not that hard, especially for such a big developer.

MIDNIGHTMASK852626d ago

Obviously not played the Gears 3 beta have you

dgroundwater2626d ago

Indeed. He is telling the truth cause the beta ran smoothly most of the time. It is unlikely to get worse anytime soon considering it has had a ton of playtesting.

I can't fathom for the life of me how they f***ed up Gears 2 MP so bad, especially when their other flagship franchise (UT) has always been smooth online

Never played Gears, but adding dedi servers should help

likedamaster2626d ago

Seeing is believing here, Cliff. Sorry. Gears 2 multi left a terrible taste in everyone's mouth, nuff said.

Btw: Gameplay demo for Gears 3 looked good but... boring.

Paradicia2626d ago

If any of you had played the gears 3 beta, believing this wouldn't be any stretch of the imaginations.

Dedicated servers and new network code.. 'nuff said.
