Silent Hill 4: The Room deserves some respect

Destructoid: Just days before E3, Konami held its own special press conference and dropped a few goshbombs on us. The story that really jumped out at me was the Silent Hill HD Collection. This is something I've wanted for a long time, if only to play Silent Hill 2 in high definition.

Now, while I understand the reason for not including the PlayStation One Silent Hill (just like the first MGS is left off the Metal Gear Solid Collection), I'm a little more perplexed by the other omission. If these HD remakes are focused entirely on PlayStation 2 games, then there's one Silent Hill game that's being deliberately left off the package -- Silent Hill 4: The Room.

not that it deserves respect, I just don't understand why Konami wouldn't include it. My main problem with SH ROOM (I don't want to call it 4) is that it doesn't look any better than SH3 or maybe slightly worse. I'm all in if they remake SH1, but it's unlikely for this to happen. Maybe Kojima can set a new team to work on the remake.

I never liked SH4......

I actually consider Silent Hill Origins on the PSP as the finest best game in the series since SH3.

Wolfie2667d ago

Origins was ok but nothing special. Shattered Memories is the best since SH3

jony_dols2667d ago

Actually I never knew Shattered Memories & Origins got PS2 releases...

They should have added SH:The Room, Shattered Memories & Origins to this collection.

Maybe they are planning to release this collection in 2 parts...

Yeah, same here. I just couldn't get into SH4 compared to the three before it. I have no idea why.

Played SH in order. I didn't like that Harry Mason died in SH3. SH4 is the weirdest at least to how far I got till I stopped playing of completely.

I liked 4 and SHMEM a lot, but not as Silent Hills.

I'm not sure exactly what it was, but something about SH4 failed to scare me compared to previous games. The first three games in the series made me nervous to even start up the games -- and SH2 still terrifies me even after 5 playthroughs -- but SH4 failed to scare me even once. Maybe there was more of an emphasis on action than on suspense, I don't know, but the scare-factor is pretty important in survival horror game that's pretty important. Not creepy/disturbing/scary = not fun.

Kojima has nothing to do with this Franchise.

"The Room" was a wonderful game, i still don't get it why Konami left it out.

It was the very first Silent Hill game i played, I still remember siting by my brother while he played the Silent Hill games, I used to get scared a lot, even though i wasn't that young. :P

But then one day, I Man'ed Up and decided to start playing it. Started with "The Room" then "Silent Hill 2" followed by "Silent Hill 3", and now i am big fan of the Franchise.

Agreed mezzo, my first silent hill was 3, but the room is my fav silent hill, back in the day, my cousin and i would stay up late, switch off all the lights and play It for hours, hope Konami would reconsider their decision.

Even if you say it that way, it's not like any team has anything to do with the franchise. It's like everybody is getting a piece of Silent Hill nowadays that it has become somewhat diluted. Kojima can maybe give some advice =)

chidori6662667d ago (Edited 2667d ago )

Silent hill 4 it's possibly the greatest survival horror game series ever made, and the scariest...

TheColbertinator2667d ago

Silent Hill 4 was a fantastic game but I'm still grateful that Konami is remaking 2,let alone 2 and 3.

Megaton2667d ago

4 and Origins are the only two in the series I haven't played, but I've always heard nothing but bad things about 4. 2 will likely always be my favorite. I've lost count of how many times I've beaten it. At least 20 or 30.
