This podcast reveals the potential rumors being broadcast throughout the internet, and addresses the multimedia push from Microsoft as irrelevant by comparison to the stride of other companies. Their E3 show for 2011 is called into question and analysis is done on their overall strategic stance this year and in years' past.
@iamnsuperman No doubt man. Definitely. Thanks for the listen and feedback!
Why play more variety when you can play less right?
I bought console for games not for network
AND, the music in the background is annoying.
Hardcore fans need saving.
Best of them is that on demand TV is already a part of lots of different hardware i.e even TVs have it nowadays, and it's free.
MS will have to give a VERY good reason for people to pay extra. It's possible they have a ton of exclusive content but I doubt gamers will pay extra on top of xbl fees unless they manage to grab a LOT of incentive.
I get the feeling that this is most people's concern. Because you have to admit, Microsoft seem to be getting less and less interested in the video game industry.(Especially the hardcore side of the industry.)
if your not bashing MS then your not a true gamer on N4G.
Unfortunately this gen microsoft can get away with shunning their hardcore gamers and trying to expand their brand however they have a lot of convincing to do if they want me to buy their next console.
Oh grow up will you? No one bashed Microsoft (your fanboyism is making you paranoid lol). People are allowed to voice their opinion, because not everyone worships their console.(or the company that created it.)
fanatics, sheesh.
@NYC_Gamer
At least you didn't get all defensive, but I still don't really understand the point you're trying to make. If Microsoft relies solely on third parties then what incentive will people have to buy the console?(as opposed to the competition)
and I think you (and Babytown) misunderstood what I was saying. I was simply saying that I'm worried that Microsoft will get too invested into other ventures (such as IPTV) to really focus on games. I think anyone who enjoys the 360 can agree that that would be a bad thing.
We don't watch your conferences for BS like "integrated media" or "convergence" or any other meaningless marketing phrases and half baked concepts.
We watch for the GAMES.
Please remember this.
Ms has no shame.. or exclusives for that matter
Hey maybe Playstation will get Virgin Media and we can merge the console wars with the TV wars lol. Oh god imagine the comments here ^_^
I just doesnt seem like they are worried about growth of the core audience.
Very short term thinking IMO.
ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IM WRITING IN CAPS LOCK IT AUTOMATICALLY MAKES ME RIGHT :P
Move sold over 8 million and got every months casual crap+ hardcore games with optional move support , so show us how it failed . Back to back release of stuff like KZ3 , virtua tennis and socom on move is you definition of failure ?? I'd wish everything that failed fared like that
Kinec have been a success so far , whatever i think of it .
Motion is there to stay and is getting stronger
I am sorry your comment is not only IRRITATING TO READ ALL IN CAPS but also quite deluded...motion controls are now a great option for those who want different experiences in games...
I like many can adapt to any controller...after 30 years gaming I have used many types so if the experience is good then bring on the options
I would like more focus on the hard core (non-Kinect) games but I just don't think it will happen. Yes, there will be the Halo/Gears of War/Forza/Fable games, but probably not a lot of new non-Kinect IP's.
This is what happens when u only have 2 exclusives to show. aka froza and gears
Yeah...they need WAAAAAY more games.
I was the biggest 360 fan in the world from 2007-mid 2010 but I didn't pay for my XBL subscription renewal when I saw MS E3 2010. Sony's conference was world's better.
3 months later, I have a PS3 and I sign into XBL once in a blue moon to say high to my friends. This summer, I'm building my BEAST RIG PC, too. I wouldn't be doing this if I was satisfied with MS, but I'm also grateful because I have PS3 and I know how a PC works now.
Sony has be on an onslaught with exclusives + free online. Steam makes PC gaming the best. Gaming RIGS are expensive but if consoles can play games, budget PCs can do just better + they're PCs.
MS forgets 360 is for gaming + new exclusives. Its unfortunate if people support this because 360 isn't worth it.
Not surprising there is nothing but Sony fanboys in here complaining about the imaginary lack of offerings on the. 360
Advancing XBL means Microsoft isn't focused on anything else? :p
I'm guessing Sony supporting media and troll sites that take advantage of fanboys will be cashing in on the current emotional state of these people caused by the recent news showing how Microsoft is widening the gap at a such a fast rate the gap will be the biggest it has ever been in no time.
Hopefully their 2012 year will be better
Putting the 360 in one of the largest consumer markets on the planet as the most advanced set top box the world has ever seen won't be fair to the competition as the 360 will sell millions because of a entirely different market. PS3 used movies as a added benefit and the 360 will use cable.
They can announce upgrades and features like this all they want, but you can expect a hell of a lot of games at the forefront as well. The more content they add to XBL the better IMHO. I hate high cable bills and separate boxes. If the Xbox 360 worked as a cable box then that's less clutter and everything HD.
We can expect a hell of a lot of games from MS?
It's 6/4/2011. We are half way through this calendar year. Where are these games of which you speak? Seriously. I'm not trolling. The 360 is my main gaming platform and I am asking you a honest question.
I get so tired of hearing wait until E3. Last E3 was a disaster for their core audience and this year, other than multiplats, has been equally as bad if not their worst year since they entered the industry.
You really think they are magicians and they are going to pull a rabbit out of their hats? I highly doubt it. Why? Because nearly everything unveiled at E3 shows are usually leaked pre E3 year after year. I am sure there will be a couple surprises but will they be core game related and will they be worth the wait? I seriously, as an Xbox 360 fan, doubt it.
I hope I am wrong but I doubt that I am.
Why pay Comcast $170 a month for three things when I can pay MS $60 a month for Live and Comcast or Verizon $40 for HS Internet and save $70 and still get the same content. And MS can offer the content for less because their income is diversified.
A regular provider makes money from cable, movie rentals/sales and phone service. MS would make money from all of those plus DLC, games and game related items. It's like adding a multi-billion dollar industry to a multi-billion dollar industry. It would also make the 360 into a set-top box/DVR that you would already own and marketable to the general public. That worked okay for the Wii. Cable users are a much bigger segment of the world than gamers. I also believe MS is about to announce a price cut of sorts. I think Kinect will now be included in every 360 at $229 and $299 price points. MS makes enough on the 360 per console and Kinect is not nearly as expensive to make as people think. At this point, they should be able to include it and still make a small profit. They can make up the difference with unit sales and royalties.
I admit I should have been more specific but it should be obvious I meant $60 per month. Which would be cheap compared to what most are paying for cable and phone now with HD and unlimited national calling. But they would have the advantage of including video calling. Video calling hasn't caught on yet. But if it was built into your cable box, you might use it.
Now Microsoft may be focusing on this at E3....lol
The irony is so sweet...lol
I must add the more multi media functions offered from any of the console companies is great in my book and say bring them on, however I just find it funny how fanboys of 360 used to mock say bluray but will know call this the knock out blow to Sony
If MS can kill my need for Comcast I'm in.
It's not an exclusivity contest. It's a matter of if there are games to be played. And there are. Millions will buy Battlefield because it's not COD. Just like millions bought Medal of Honor. Multi-platform doesn't mean it will no longer be on the 360. As for sales, PS3 has games that do better on it. But more games do better on 360. COD sells far more on 360 than FIFA sells more on PS3. But to laugh at Forza as if it doesn't outsell many of the exclusives Sony fans brag about. It outsells all but Uncharted and GT. So according to you Killzone and LBP aren't that popular either. How much do those exclusives really matter from a sales standpoint?
Actually what are all of these games Sony has coming out this year? You have Uncharted and Twisted. What else? MS has Forza, Gears and maybe Halo and Kingdoms. Gears and Forza(over 4 million in sales beats Killzone and LBP by a lot) will go sell for sell with Sony's two and Halo will sell 7 or 8 million and put MS way over the top.
Dude, for all of the bragging about Sony exclusives, they don't sell units or consoles. All of the games that really sell are on both consoles save Uncharted and GT. But Gears, Forza, Halo and Fable all consistently hit the 3 or 4 million or more mark.
People have to stop parroting nonsense that misinformed people spout. Not saying you, but so many have said "MS has no games" that it has taken on it's own life and people have started to believe it's fact when all evidence makes it clear that it isn't.
Forgot God of War. But still. What does Sony have this year?
Santa tracker?
Standalone hardware - so not built into the 360....more to buy.
Why all the f-bombs?
Stopped listening there.
Now that M$ is trying to make the 360 more than just a gaming console it's cool.
I hope they have more than this, because gamers want games.
