Activision on Call of Duty Elite: ‘Even Haters Can Play for Free'

Kotaku: That is a direct quote from the FAQ Activision just released [.doc] for Call of Duty Elite, a final plea for you to not hate the shooter's paid subscription service, and an argument that needs, oh, just six pages to summarize.

That's not to say they beat around the bush. The first set of bullet points concerns all the free stuff you can do. Though many have said this is no different from what Bungie.net offers to the Halo community, the meat of it is this: Stat-tracking and online multiplayer are free, and you don't need to pay for the Elite subscription if all you want to buy are map packs.

That comment will win the haters over for sure.

So far everyone I know is a hater of COD Elite

What's stupid about Elite is that it's essentially a social media hub, however, COD has a huge social following already on sites like Machinima for free. So there goes the idea of video series they planned on doing.

I love stat tracking, but you don't need an in-depth website to offer you tips on COD. There goes the strategy/map pages.

What's left are the in-depth stats everyone else does for free (Bungie are still gods at this) as well as some other stuff that ultimately diminishes the value of the price. Even the hardcore COD fans are not liking it.

I'm going to be pretty pissed off if they don't do dedicated servers for consoles.

I will do a backfill and eat one of my thongs mate if they implement dedicated servers on consoles for this COD.

Mark my words, or bookmark this page or whatever, I will do a god damn back flip and eat one of my thongs if they do it.

And I'll post a "vidicle" of me doing here on N4G lol.

They dont realize that online gaming is essentially social networking. They are trying to build a social network within a social network

Id rather not play for free.

Catatafish2573d ago (Edited 2573d ago )

So you like paying for subscription based gaming? On top of Xbox live subs if you are a Xbox player. You can't forget the net bill and electricity to run all this, that's always there as well.

I'd rather play for free anytime, seeing how much we already pay for just enable our gaming :-)

EDIT: and I especially don't ever want to have to pay to play for something as crappy as COD.

omi25p2572d ago

I ment id rather not play at all, Which is free.
