It's an old, but true, axiom: You can't put lipstick on a pig. If you don't have a good, clear concept for a game, then all the accoutrements from a highly advanced futuristic society won't help you. We all know of games with great production values that were absolute crap. So much so that you probably weren't even aware of the production values at all. Conversely, there are some great games, mostly independents, made with little money, but loaded with spirit.
