Greg Miller writes: "It's a very good day to be a Konami fan. Today as part of its pre-E3 conference, Konami announced the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and the Zone of the Enders HD Collection."
AWESOME!!! " The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will contain Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. "
Peace Walker?! Awesome. I always felt the PSP controls were so-so. Plus---TROPHIES!!
Or achievements, whichever you prefer
@Funny Don't be so jealous, Sony doesn't own the franchise. Why don't you just get excited about the news instead of immediately concerning yourself over a console you don't own?
I'm glad the 360 users are getting this too. you guys are in for a treat!
Peace Walker ported to 360 Oh snap!!
Why are 360 guys happy for this? I though MGS was just a movie. Wow how things change.
@DatNJ So, all 360 guys think the same thing?
@alpha Quick to jump the gun there aren't we. It's called hypocrisy. I call it when I see it, just the same as when Mass Effect came to PS3 and a lot of people on the PS3 side jumped on the ME bandwagon. No different here. As far as fanboy getting mad, I do have to agree with you on that one. I understand how some fanboy would get upset at something like this while others that try to act neutral secretly dance for joy.
@DatNJ I dont mean to jump the gun, but seems that the first thing I see is negativity and disgust on it going multiplatform. I didn't see that with ME2, at least nowhere near the same extent.
I knew it. : ) I once commented how I want MGS HD collection of 2, 3, and Peace Walker combined. Along with Silent Hill & Zone Of Enders. Guess we have to wait for Devil May Cry, Onimusha, & Final Fantasy Collection at E3, I hope...
"Another feature both collections support is Kojima's new "lifestyle" called "Transfarring." That is not a typo -- Transfarring. Using this system, PlayStation players can have one save that works with PS3 and PSP copies of certain games. Konami announced Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker as the first (and so far only) Transfarring capable title. Start your Peace Walker game on the PS3, copy the save to the PSP, play on the go, and then copy it back to the PS3 to pick up where you left off. "
Ok, I know it's too late but here goes. Truth is, MGS (note, Metal Gear Solid, NOT Metal Gear there's a difference) is for all intents and purposes a recognized Playstation franchise. Just because two "expansions" of the game appeared on two other consoles, doesn't negate that the entire series started, grew, and became great on Playstation consoles because of Playstation users. That's just a fact. You can try to deny it by citing jealousy and fanboyism, but it doesn't negate the truth. If you look at the sales of MGS titles that appeared on other consoles, you'll see that it wasn't as well received as it was on Playstation. Again, no fanboyism, fact. That being said, for those upset these games are coming to the 360, you shouldn't be. Watch as MGS will not do so well on the 360 as it will on the PS3. It's been proven with previous games that were former PS exclusives selling better on the PS3 than on the 360. Companies simply have to learn the hard way, but in the end they will make money off of this. I seriously doubt that this collection will boast real success on the 360, especially based upon the trolling of MGS4 the 360 userbase was prone to.
Damn I just messed my pants.
@-Alpha I don't see the negativity and disgust you are talking about. Other than one or two fanboys being a bit upset that the 360 is getting this collection, 99% of people here are just happy that we are getting such a great collection. I couldn't care less if they ported this to the 360 or Wii or PC or whatever system as long as I'm getting it on the PS3.
if this is the 25th anniversary of "Metal Gear" where is the info on a Metal Gear "Rebirth" that has been rumored? Konami has done the gradius and contra rebirth games for wiiware and they are seriously fun throwbacks to the old days. Metal Gear was as much a part of the NES days as it is now for the PS fans. A metal gear rebirth mash up of the original and part 2 would be awesome in retro style. As for this HD series coming to the 360...will it be on a single dvd or will there be multiple discs? We can assume the ps3 version will be a single bluray. I'm a little bummed they arent including the first MGS game in the box set.
Everyone Alpha is great commentor. Please! My gosh he's a huge crybaby.
i believe "hell yes" is appropriate.
PS3 and 360 nice!! seems I upset some people :( *sad face* @best_player Im sure I'll live without the 3 hours of gameplay and will be able to watch the cutscenes online :)
Personally, I am actually kind of let down that MGS1 is not included, it feels incomplete to me as such, I would rather MGS 1 2 and 3 than peace walker, that said it was the controls that stopped me from beating peace walker so I will be pretty happy to get a full run through, I just think MGS1 felt more fitting
@waseem335 But no MGS4 for 360 still, I wonder why :)
@the_best_player Because they would have to put it on way to many disks for one and two they would have to rewrite the script and have the voice actors come back and redo the takes since there are many jabs at the 360 in the game.
Way too many discs? Maybe 2 or 3. Funny that I didn't hear you guys complain about the chapter installs (which take much longer than swapping a disc), so why make a big deal about disc swapping? MGSIV is perfectly capable on a 360 if all it takes are a few extra discs and a few jabs.
I was sold with MGS3 HD alone. I hope they're the Subsistence/S version of the games.
Reason enuff not buy the 3DS version for mature hardcore gamnerds?
four games on one disc? very nice, i just wish they could have put MGS1 in there too, the gamecube version would have been a easy port too
Three games on one disc, not four.
yeah, my bad, although 4 would have been nice :/
I don't think the amount of disks where mentioned. It's probably one for ps3 and two or three for xbox.
hell yes! Peace Walker...I am ready ...I would like if they ported the GC version of the MGS1 remake though...
F*CK YEAH! Zone of the Enders too! ps: MGS on xbox? WTF Konami?! @below: mgS(mind the S) started on the PS1, and this series is associated with the PlayStation brand no matter how you spin it.
metal gear never started on play station infact MGS2 was on xbox 1
Ya MGS2's port was done by SK and also MGS3 is on the 3DS or soon will be, don't forget Metal Gear started on the old Nentendo systems. Never got why people thought it was exclusive.
Yeah well it's on the Xbox now, deal with it.
