Giant Bomb Uncharted & NGP Hands-On

Uncharted: Golden Abyss is clearly the star of the show. Sony Bend is working on this one, and their presentation tossed out a few numbers, like their ability to put 160MB of textures on screen or the notion that Drake has 3,000 separate animations. That aside, the game looked good--not quite console-quality, if you were to hold it up against Uncharted 2, but close enough that it practically doesn't matter. The game appears to be a standalone adventure set before the first game, but that doesn't mean that it's a prequel that's designed to lead into the core series.

Uncharted will no doubt be a Big hit on the PS vita it will for sure be one of the titles that will bring most People to buy the Vita.

Pintheshadows2604d ago (Edited 2604d ago )

If I had the money I would be one of them.

Yeah, I will. I bought a PSP straight away and had to wait for ages for the games I wanted. Vice City Stories, God of War, Syphon Filter etc.

If I wait there should be a lot out by the time I have the money.

Uncharted3Goty2604d ago

at the moment vita will be expenive to buy so it would be a good idea to wait intil Golden Abyss comes out unless it comes out with vita.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a launch title unless I'm mistaken. I love how it looks better than many PS3 and 360 games and it's on a handheld. I love Sony.

Pintheshadows2604d ago

Holy Hell! I just watched a video on joystiq. Golden Abyss looks absolutely incredible. How can a hand held do that. I was also not aware that Vita has touch control as well as two sticks.

Truly awesome.

metsgaming2603d ago

Crystallis2604d ago

"the game looked good--not quite console-quality, if you were to hold it up against Uncharted 2"

It doesnt hold up against the first uncharted either but if the gameplay is solid. Who cares

Too much emphasis is being put on graphics

"Dont miss whats right in front of you looking at the scenery"

these one sounds more realistic then the one Kotuk wrote about the game they said that it would be console quality.

It is still console quality. It's just not on par with what the current HD consoles are putting out.

Then again, these are early titles. The games will undoubtedly look better after time. It's a given and obvious.

VampiricDragon2604d ago

crono trigger is console QUALITY too

Quality could be many things, graphics, story, gameplay, any number of things

Its not console quality graphics, but the handhelds have had console quality music, story, gameplay for over 20 years.

Pintheshadows2604d ago (Edited 2604d ago )

PSP always reminded me off the Gamegear. Miles ahead of the competition and totally underrated.

A bonus for the PSP is that it never pissed battery acid all over itself.

"Its not console quality graphics, but the handhelds have had console quality music, story, gameplay for over 20 years"

So which is it? LOL?

You don't even need a handheld or a console to achieve what you claim to be "console quality story" let a lone game play. There are books.

The reason this eats anything out there is because it has two nubs. it produces the best graphics on a held held gaming device that come close to looking like a current gen console. The textures alone in some screens provided, create a look for these games that even surpass any console under the current HD, PS3, Xbox 360.

and your 20 year statement is ridiculous. Did the gameboy fat have the same graphics as NES?

Game boy games weren't that long, the sound wasn't that good either. So how can you have long, story driven games on that?

First time I had such an experience was on the Sega Gamegear.

I edited my comment a bit.. also. what of the Virtual Boy? Did that have fleshed out experiences like the NGP will have? or does it too have console quality graphics?

I own most of the systems released, ever. I'm not talking out of ignorance here.

VampiricDragon2604d ago

"So which is it? LOL?"

Its console quality gameplay, story at the very least. But thats up to the companies

"You don't even need a handheld or a console to achieve what you claim to be "console quality story" let a lone game play. There are books."

You dont need anything for anything with that logic. We are talking about gaming.

"The reason this eats anything out there is because it has two nubs."

That is great

"No matter how much you'd like to downplay this little device, it has two nubs,"

Downplaying and being realistic are two different things. I am buying 2 at launch. So come again?

"it produces the best graphics on a held held gaming device that come close to looking like a current gen console."

So? The psp did the same during its time and the graphics of the games arent what made them special

"The textures alone in some screens provided, create a look for these games that even surpass any console under the current HD, PS3, Xbox 360."

Now you are talking out of your ass.......... Those textures dont even look half as good as even early ps3 games.

"and your 20 year statement is ridiculous. Did the gameboy fat have the same graphics as NES?"

No but it had many games with better gameplay, sound, likable characters. Thats the problem with you fanboys, its only about the graphics to you

"Game boy games weren't that long, the sound wasn't that good either. So how can you have long, story driven games on that?"

Alot of gameboy games were 30+ hours. rpgs were as good as anything.

"First time I had such an experience was on the Sega Gamegear. "

Of course.........because you didnt own a gameboy so you cant even comment
