LA Noire is great. Very solid game, but it's not at all perfect like some reviews made it out to be. Whether that's due to the R* logo on the box is a different matter.

Had a lot of fun with it while it lasted, but I personally wouldn't stick a 10/10 on it.

rob60214714d ago (Edited 4714d ago )

I still believe there hasn't been a game yet that truly deserves a 10/10. There's always room to improve or things I see they could have done better in even the best games. With that being said LA Noire was a cut above the rest of the pack in the sea of games we have out there. It didn't score as well as red dead, so I'm not calling it overrated - it's very refreshing for someone who plays games all the time to get to play something new and different as well as beautiful.

InfiniteJustice4714d ago

You make a good point, I mean no game can really ever be 'perfect', which is what a 10/10 score insinuates.

But then the argument of personal preference comes into it, in which case there can be no perfect game on any level lol

And I agree, LA Noire is refreshing. It's one of few games that I wouldn't mind watching other people play through, just to see how they react

I reserve a 10/10 score for that one game that truly sets itself apart from all the rest. That game that influences the way we play games for generations to come. That game that helps re-define a genre. I can only name a handful of games that fit this mold.

Here are a few games I would give a 10/10:

-The Legend of Zelda
-The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Super Mario 64
-GoldenEye
-Final Fantasy VII
-Halo CE
-Grand Theft Auto III
-Half-Life 2
-Doom

It was good but once you're done there's just nothing to do. Huge beautiful city and nothing to do in it. Should've had some kind of criminal free roam mode.

Pintheshadows4714d ago

I enjoyed it but like Mafia 2 it kind off just ends. Still an 8 or 9 though.

DaleBoyd4714d ago

Yeah, the one downside to linear games is once they are done there is nothing to do but play them through again. Fortunately for L.A Noir the cases can go many different ways so it should be good for at least one more playthrough.

I personally enjoyed it but also found it to be incosistent story wise. I loved the branching, intelligent storyline that felt straight of the movie 'Chinatown' but the outcome of certain cases took me out of the game.

The homicide cases, in particular, felt as if I was forced to into a charging a suspect even though I felt the evidence was contradictory. That was probably how it was intended, but I would have preferred following my own personal leads and investigating on the side instead of being shoe-horned into an outcome.

Certain plot developments towards the end of the game left me disconnected. I don't want to spoil anything, but I didn't like the Jack Kelso character, so why would I....

I hated charging innocent men just because it would please the public but thats the 40s for you.

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

Psychonaut8519d ago

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.

Demetrius18d ago

Mfs are too sensitive nowadays and would cry instead of being concerned bout real world problems

Demetrius18d ago

Whenever gta 6 launch we won't be getting another rockstar title for another 10 years lol but on the positive side they bou to come back n show how open world supposed to be done 🔥

Skuletor18d ago

I won't expect any singleplayer DLC like IV's The Lost & Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony after it launches either

12 Years Later, L.A. Noire is Still an Excellent Experience

There was a lot to love about Rockstar and Team Bondi's 2011 open world title.

One I never finished. I've been looking at the ps4 version off Amazon the last few months just never bit

Knightofelemia123d ago

It's worth playing LA Noire is one of my favorite Rockstar games. But I would also check out pawnshops or thrift stores if you want the game dirt cheap. Someone may have been dumb enough to dump the game.

Baffles me when people have these opinions about acclaimed games 😂

RhinoGamer88124d ago

100% agree... not perfect, but an engaging/refreshing experience.

sagapo124d ago

Agree, at time of release those facial expressions were amazing! They still hold strong even today imo.
The game on its own was good. Something fresh, but sidequests were a bit meh after a while.

Nacho_Z124d ago

I picked it up on sale recently, going to play it next summer. I'll get more out of it this time, first time around I treated the open world like it was GTA and goofed about, whereas now I'll play it with more respect. RDR2 has trained me well.

I also hadn't read Raymond Chandler at the time so presumably that'll add another layer of enjoyment too.

Absolutely stunning game. So underrated. Played through it again last year and it still stands up so well. Like many of rockstars games it’s actually a far better experience on PC. I didn’t enjoy it as much on console. Completed it at least 3 times on pc.

The rumours of a sequel are awesome news despite the fact I think Rockstar are now the shell of the company they once were.

SyntheticForm123d ago

Team Bondi made a hell of a game.

Six Best Historically Accurate Games

GF365: "Out of the many historically accurate games out there, these are our picks for the six best games that are historically accurate. While these games aren't completely accurate, they depict the times and situations of history well. Plus, they're all a lot of fun to play, too."

Historically accurate from the past is tough to truly know and judge especially the farther you go back because history is written from the people in power and doesn’t mean it’s the truth just the narrative they wanted to tell.

I don’t care about historically accurate in most games because they are games not biographies or history books . Just make the game fun , good gameplay and such .

Ghost of Tsushima wasn’t historically accurate in many things but I loved the game . Many examples like it .
