Is Fusion the next generation Xbox, Kinect, or just a gaming trilogy?

Three new trademark filings, titled “Fusion,” could be a new Xbox, a new Kinect, a new gaming series, or something else entirely.

E3 is quickly approaching, coming the second week of June, and everyone wants to get their word in on what they think Microsoft will do next. The company last year announced the availability of the Xbox 360 Slim along with Kinect, so what exactly does Microsoft have up its sleeve to show off just a couple of weeks from now?

It turns out that Microsoft recently filed for three trademarks, each of them preceded by the word “Fusion.” It certainly cannot be a next generation Xbox console, dubbed Xbox 720 by the blogosphere, right? Or can it?

All of the above. It`s.......Fusion......

I can tell you this though, the next xbox won`t be called the 720.

why wouldnt it ? just asking i think they might use numbers again 720 seems to fit it and fusion might be the new console any of the above they listed all i know is that could be big.

I thought 360 stood for revolution? 720 really wouldn't make much sense. It was mainly just a placeholder started by bloggers/journalists.

Active Reload2610d ago

720 for core gamers, looks like it would mean the resolution the console is outputting. Xbox 1080 would be more reasonable, but to be honest I kinda like the sound of that although it should be higher than 1080, lol.

Nitrowolf22610d ago (Edited 2610d ago )

don't think it'll be called 720. Thats just something us gamers made up by adding 2 360 together.

I think it'll stick with the Xbox name to obviously let consumer know it's Xbox, but i don't think it'll be called 720

SO yeah Xbox Fusion could be

SuperM2609d ago

Because next generation is (hopefully) going to be all about 1080p games and calling a console "720" is not going to be a great idea.

Xbox "1080" could happen but i doubt it as its kind of like calling it the Xbox HD, and that is like saying the Xbox 360 wasnt an HD console.

Uncharted3Goty2610d ago

@ Plbelanger i didnt know that i thought it would be 720 but i still think they will use some could of number even if its called xbox 360 2 ( example) anyways i am looking forward to seeing what they bring Fusion what ever it is.

hennessey862608d ago

it was called the xbox 360 was to include the important number 3, microsoft didnt want to call it the xbox 2 next to the playstation 3 incase gamers thought it sounded inferiour. Id say if that trend continues its more than likely going to include the number 4 in the name

Bigpappy2610d ago (Edited 2610d ago )

I have come to realize over the years, that the name of the console just doesn't matter. The casuals call the '360' 'XBOX' and the core call it '360'.

What I can say for sure, is that it will be prefexed 'XBOX'. 'Xbox Fusion' could work.

Uncharted3Goty2610d ago (Edited 2610d ago )

100 Percent agree great comment and true most do just call it 360 xbox or even xbox and xbox fusion would make 100 percent be the name of the next one.
