Sony can't guarantee PlayStation Network won't get hacked again

Sony knows how - but not who - hacked into its PlayStation Network last month in possibly the biggest Internet security breach in history.

And despite beefing up its system to prevent another cyberattack like the one that exposed the personal information of 100 million users, Sony can't guarantee that it won't happen again.

Who the hell could guarantee that? Anything is hackable.

fluffydelusions2672d ago

Some people aren't very computer savvy and don't understand that. They think the matrix is how hackers really are.

trounbyfire2672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

wait are you saying the matrix isn't real <_<

Anarki2672d ago

They can monitor it very closely. That will prevent anything serious from happening.

Lich1202672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

Yeah, making something "unhackable" is impossible for the most part. Save, pulling the plug on a computer so its offline. But that practice tends to not work so well with online service.

gumgum992672d ago

your mind makes it real. ^_^

blitz06232672d ago

Better to not guarantee than guarantee then get hacked

MaxXAttaxX2672d ago

This article was submitted by 'Loner' with the hopes of inciting something.
Sorry, nothing shocking here.

No company or government can guarantee not being hacked.
Sony did what any other company could do, which was to revamp their network security and improve on several aspects of it.

Basically, there's no story here.

lil Titan2672d ago

@trounbyfire No Mr. Anderson i mean trounbyfire the Matrix isnt real *BOOM* *fight scene*

Commander_TK2671d ago

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's an article submitted by Loner anyway so you know it has to be stupid.

iamnsuperman2672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

and in other news the pentagon got hacked by a autistic British guy....Seriously anything is hackable. Calling something unhackable is the same retardedness as saying the Titanic was unsinkable.

Lavitz20122672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

Yup isn't IE right now under attack from hackers??

Edit:Here's the article.

So what does this tell you?Anything can be hacked.

ZBlacktt2672d ago

It's funny, I was the only person to bring up the Pentagon when the PSN was down. Now I see if more often, lol. :D But it's true. Anyone can get hacked.

Max_Dissatisfaction2672d ago

And a nuclear accident happened in Chernobyl so I guess that makes them ok...right?

Parapraxis2672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

@Max_Dissatisfaction it doesn't make them "okay" It means that some people have the mental capacity to understand that determinative statements such as "never hackable" or "will never fail" are only proof of shortsightedness and ignorance of odds reducing over time.

You can state that a certain outcome may be unlikely or highly improbable, however putting a guarantee on certain things would be setting ones self up for a fall.

Chupa-Chupa2672d ago

I completely agree, if someone really wants to hack you, they will. The problem is that Sony is targeted, but this can happen to any high profile company. It's the quick response that makes you look good.

metsgaming2672d ago

exactly if governments cant prevent getting hacked than companies sure cant. Article is trolling the obvious but making it look like its a PSN issue.

Max_Dissatisfaction2672d ago

Anything is hackable...thats strange, could have sworn I heard how some other console wasn't hackable some time back...oh well

M-A-R-S-H-A-L-L2672d ago

...And what does that have to do with anything?

Just to suit that anti-Sony agenda, right?

Seijoru2672d ago

The console hasn't been hacked. Just the network.

egidem2672d ago

Precisely my point. They can't say "Our network cannot and won't get hacked." They just can't guarantee you that. What they can say is that they will work to the best of their ability and resources to prevent/avoid or counter future hacks.

*Looks at submitter ehh*.

trounbyfire2672d ago

you can't say things like that or they will take yoooooouuurrrr bubbles away, i see you know this.

ZBlacktt2672d ago

MS can't guarantee Live won't get hacked again.

That's a true statement as well.

SkyCrawler2672d ago

Sssssh Loner doesnt know it yet. He lives in fairytale land.

Kon2672d ago

Live was never hacked... Get your facts straight son.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO2672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

And more cases behind that....

Jack-H2672d ago

lol @ you and your attitude.

JasonPC360PS3Wii2672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

Live has never been hacked. Live is the most secure network there is, so far.

JasonPC360PS3Wii2672d ago

Prove me wrong then disagree trolls. Search the net, and try and find at least one thing. Go ahead... I'll wait.

cyclonus0072672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

Read 3.2.1

It's right above you...

ZippyZapper2672d ago

@cyclonus007 you should read this (phishing) then this (hacking) Don't reply you can't win this.

MaxXAttaxX2672d ago

Not the network(Live) but the system itself has definitely been hacked. Which is a big problem for them, considering the amount of hack/cheating related account and console banning they have to do.

Again. Would someone please get rid of Loner? Pretty please. All he does is bring down this entire site.
