Assassin's Creed: Revelations certainly looks nice, but is it time to move on?

As much as I love this franchise, I want AC 3 and a conclusion/Ending to this current 2012 something big is happening in 72 hours story. I'm tired of feeling like the show Lost and having constant cliffhangers and no closure. Sure it can continue with spin offs and other stories like most franchises, but I want AC 3 and an ending to this current story arch.

I really like what Ubisoft is doing, trying to have the story culminate with Assassin's Creed 3 in 2012 the time when the story is actually occurring.

This series has been one of the brightest campaigns from a publisher or developer in the last decade and I've loved every bit of it. I can't wait for revelations and look forward to what AC3 will bring us in 2012.

I know that lots of people love this franchise, but I find that the games just bore me to tears.
Just not my cup of tea.

I'm also very turned off by the stories of Ubisoft bullying magazines into giving their games high scores.

That's why I want to see some sort of closure. I've loved this franchise, it's been my favorite this gen. Is rather it end then be run into the ground.

I find that the Assassins Creed series bore me aswell :( From the E3 presentation of the first game I thought that it would be a stealthy splinter-cell esc game where the player has really low health and has to avoid confrontations with lots of enemies. I thought I'd have to use the crowd mechanic to approach, execute and escape from enemies - along with utilising the possibilities of parkour to pull it off.

In the AC that was released however and the sequels thereafter this just wasn't the case. It's just too damn easy to play, you can take so many damn hits, and the controls themselves are just too slow and clunky for my tastes - more often than not I see myself accidentally jumping off a building to somehow get up and walk away fine when I hit the bottom.

There's just not the strategy, depth or tactics that you would expect to see present in the AC series. They give you all of this great weaponry and various tactics, but during a confrontation you might aswell just run up and double-stab all of the enemies in the neck before they have a chance to respond than use the poison to take them out or the smoke to escape.

They give you the tools, but you don't need to use them is what i'm trying to say. This wouldn't be so bad if Ubisoft just gave us a difficulty setting, but no, they assume that everyone wants to play the same game.

I know i'm going to get a lot of flames, neg votes for this, but I really can't see what's so good about the series any more. AC2 was a great evolution over AC1 no doubt, but while they give you more options, there's no real need to use them.

That's just my views, take them or leave them, and don't get the wrong idea that I think the AC series is awful - it succeeds in many aspects - but they could do so much better.

you can only say a series is being milked when there's a serious drop in story but in AC thats not the case keep em ciming and i'll keep on buying

tdogchristy902639d ago

Yeah but most franchise stories become garbage because they were milked. I don't want to see this with AC. Finish on a high note and let it be, don't keep going till you destroy it.

4 games in 5 years? If these games were as popular as CoD, gamers would be calling for blood. But because there's a larger story to tell and there's at least a noticeable upgrade in gameplay, sometimes it's necessary for a little milking.

The problem with that is, some of us fans just get tired of business as usual. I'll play again when a new character is introduced. I've had enough with Ezio.

Grimhammer002639d ago

It's sad but true. I want to see how this story plays out....but Ubisoft seem determined to keep it from us while the series still sells well. I'm also done with Ezio.

But mp now...,it's sublime! I'll get revelations more for this than anything else!

Maybe if they pull a 100% twist and have Ezio turn against his order and you play the game on the run from all sides! Could you imagine how amazing this game would be if you were required to actually stay hidden! Have Desmond learn that he's actually on the wring side and he has to longer requiring the machine and just requiring meditation?

Sh!t I can write better story than they can. Lol
Oh...and I'd like to play a chick, why not? Could add some interesting story elements?
