8bitfix Review: L.A. Noire

8bitfix states: "From the developers of the Grand Theft Auto series, and the Game of the Year winner, Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games presents its next hit, L.A. Noire. L.A. Noire is a game that captures the essence of the black & white detective films that were popular many decades ago. L.A. Noire is a unique experience that all gamers should try, well mature gamers anyway. Let’s break down L.A. Noire for an in-depth review."

The story is too old to be commented.

I thought Rockstar just published this one?

Optical_Matrix2610d ago

They did. And Team Bondi developed it. Why people are saying Rockstar developed it is beyond me as the game was in development years before Rockstar had anything to do with it.

Everyone knows that Team Bondi is the developer, in conjunction with Rockstar Games. You can even read about it on Rockstar's official site, under L.A. Noire. If that's not straight enough from the source, I don't know what is.

Here is the quote, if you don't feel like clicking:

"Developed by Team Bondi in conjunction with Rockstar Games, L.A. Noire is now available for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360® in North America and arrives May 20th 2011 in Europe."

they did, Team Bondi developed it....

the fact that people think rockstar made it has to be one of the biggest pieces of game related misinformation going around at the moment, and it sucks because the Bondi guys aren't getting any credit for it....

huge disappointment, terrible, terrible jaggies all over the screen, shadows erratic and awful, looks worse than gta4, which was a bad looking game.

The bank scene, second "case" when you start outside and shoot the perps inside, the shadows and jaggies are moving around, it made my head hurt, and when you pan the camera around it drops to like 15fps, when you finally go inside the bank, after a loading looks a bit better, but only because they only had to render one room, here the jaggies are not eye-tearing-out painful to look at and the shadows are a bit better.

The whole case takes all of 3 min. to run up to the bank and shoot 4 guys....guess what, time for another loading screen, is the whole game like this, i played for another 10 min. maybe, it's going back to the rental store, so freaking glad i rented it, the character models that were so talked about, look AWFUL!!!

The cops uniforms look straight out of a ps2 game, what resolution is this game in 1024x520 ??

Seriously, what res is it, it looks so bad.

and....Every 5 min a loading screen, flashbacks are annoying, broken disjointed story telling, this game is a grade A turd!

again, i have only played 45 min of the game but

4/10 for me so far, i might give it more of a go if i hear it gets 100x better

*edit I rented the ps3 version, i guess i fell into the hype and was expecting to be blown away by the story, i was just instantly turned of by the glitches/bugs/graphical errors/loading/fade to blacks

Are you playing PS3 because I don't have any issues with excessive loading screens. In fact I can barely think of any unless you quick travel.

I have not noticed many bugs or loading screens at all. There is pop in galore but to judge it on 45 minutes of gameplay is a little weak and the story is pretty fantastic if you stick with it. So far it is my game of the year but i'm about the experience and feel. I've also noticed no slowdown that you speak off. In fact i've been surprised at how stable the framerate is. Again this is on PS3 as well.

I'm going to give it more of a go tomorrow, as everyone seems to love it, here's hoping///
