2011: A Blockbuster Year For Games But Not Movies?

2011 has already been a great year for video games. L.A. Noire is arguably the biggest one released to date but there are numerous other blockbuster games to be released later this year.

Can the same thing be said about this year’s movies?

This guy clearly hasn't seen the hangover 2 yet, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen

you're right. I haven't. But yea that's just one movie. The rest don't just interest me. I'm looking forward to 2012 more in terms of movies.

It's too early in the year to decide that it'll be a bad year for movies. You can see some excellent trailers or read some great review which just leap out and interest you instantly.

Hangover 2 = Blockbuster
Transformers 3 = Blockbuster
Cars 2 = Blockbuster (it will top the box office)
Harry Potter 7 PT2 = Biggest movie of the year...
Pirates 4 = top of the box office opening weekend

...and then some

Maybe he just has bad taste in movies?

"Is that a mushroom?" I lol'd out loud at that part.

i think hangover 2 was so overdone. bad acting all over the place. it wasn't even well written.

Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Captain America: The First Avenger
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Cowboys & Aliens
Green Lantern
Add to Watchlist
The Three Musketeers 3D
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

I would say, chances are that blockbuster movies are coming out in 2011.

2012 looks so much better for movies with the darkknight rises and the avengers only movie i really want to see this year is green lantern.

claterz2491d ago

2012 will be the best year ever for movies because of one film... The Hobbit!

Dark Knight Rises looks awesome too though.

Fast Five, Thor, The Hangover 2, Pirates 4, X-Men First Class, Transformers 3, Green Lantern, Captain America, Super 8, Cowboys and Aliens, Horrible Bosses, Harry Potter Whatever Number They're On Now, Final Destination 5, Fright Night, Conan the Barbarian, Kung Fu Panda 2, Cars 2 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes all come out this summer...holy balls!

Some of these don't really float my boat, but this has got to be the biggest summer movie season ever.

I thought Thor was alright, not the best but it was good. Pirates 4 will probably be the movie equivilant to COD:MW3; more of the same crap we've seen before. The Deathly hollows was very good, no doubt part 2 will be as well. The only other movie I'm interested in is Season of the Witch, but I won't know how good it is until I see it.

As for gaming, so far already there's been Killzone 3, Dragon Age 2, Portal 2, L.A. Noire, Dirt 3, The Witcher 2. Motorstorm was also pretty good.

And the rest of the year is looking even better. BF3, Dark Souls, AC: Revelations, Skyrim, Batman: Arkam City, Deus Ex, Resistance 3. And that's just off the top of my head.

It's not even a contest really.

Killzone 3- dissapointly generic
Dragon Age 2- About as bad as an rpg can get
Portal 2- great
L.A. Noire- good but not hype good
Dirt 3- good
The Witcher 2 - avaerage rpg

Your missing things like pokemon, which has outsold and outscored all those games combined so the list is invalid

@ patriot

Why? the new ones that came out in march and is the highest reviewed and highets sold game out of that entire list so it should be included.

In fact theres alot of portable games that came out this year that should replace most of that list
