Sony has turned off the PlayStation Network online sign-in service amidst rumors surfacing regarding the security of changing one’s password via the web.
Will it ever end? :(
kazuo hirai got a BIIIIIG red button on his desk and he got hes eye peeled on a 100 monitor in front of him all watching the internet and monitoring PSN when ever he sees ANYTHING suspicious he screams HHHHHAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXX and mash that red button to turn PSN off lol @below thank you @ disagrees you ppl need to take a chill pill man lighten up a bit
LOL HAHAHA BUBS.
LMAO, hilarious post. Thanks!
- And I haven't been signed out since, I just checked and I'm still signed in now (on their websites) I did this as I read somewhere that by signing in through the web and the PS3 itself that I may be able to stay logged in even if the servers were to go down due to all of the people rushing to get back online.
I tried to change my password two days ago and it said an email will be with me in 24 hours. still waiting for that email but honestly I'm happy with waiting
I never got my email either.
Just tried logging onto the playstation and that let me reset my password and got on about 24 hours after they said the system was up.
Days later I still never saw that email.
@tehpees3 Yeah same happened with me, i waited over 24 hours for the email and it never came so i just went back to the website and tried to log in again, that time the email came within 2 minutes.
You helped me wake up with a chuckle hahaha...Nice post Now i'm off to play the witcher 2...best rpg this year
Lol mad funny
Lol that made me think of the architect from the matrix. Good stuff man.. KAAAAAAZZ!
After their upgrade in security that is probably not too far from the truth. I am sure they have serious network monitoring software in place.
Why am I able to log into psn? I live in US. Nevermind. My bad.
RIIIDDDDGGEEEE RACCCEEERRRR! That's what I'd say if I were Kaz...
He should be doing this to the hackers: http://www.youtube.com/watc... edit: So I can still play online? *Skips off into background*
Title is misleading, this only affects websites signing into PSN, not the PS3 for online gaming.
So the title was correct, you just assumed that it was online gaming.
Under the description it says (PlayStation Network,PS3). Yeah, I can see how some idiot would assume this is for the PS3 and not PC which is clearly evident... -Death
This doesn't surprise me in the least. It is PSN afterall.
Thank you. Had a feeling it was just a misleading title so i didnt bother clicking it.
Hey Guys. Please note that PSN sign in is currently unavailable for the following services: PlayStation.com PlayStation forums PlayStation Blog PC CAM Qriocity.com Music Unlimited via the web client All PlayStation game title websites Unfortunately this also means that those who are still trying to change their password password via Playstation.com or Qriocity.com will be unable to do so for the time being. This is due to essential maintenance and at present it is unclear how long this will take. In the meantime you will still be able to sign into PSN via your PlayStation 3 and PSP devices to connect to game services and view Trophy/Friends information.
not able to log in PSN since all these rumors claim its back up and runing changed password yes, anything else no.
I was surprised it let me re-enter my password straight away, with no confirmation about my previous email, or extra security measures to make sure it was me. I could have been anybody logging in.
Was thinking that too. Didnt have to put in the old password or anything. Even on accounts that were not activated on my new PS3 yet...
ugh... Some more Sony fail.
From PS Blog: "We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed."
That is funny. A disagree for a direct quote from PS Blog.
Once again..This is just terrible and when will it stop, I am one of those who can't change their password. The email which I got 2 days later from the day of request. After PSN going back down again then up again...and now the site is down. Sony get your act together.
So many companies getting hacked atm, facebook is in turmoil, and YouTube is having problems here. Hell I say. Edit: I hope not, I want to keep gaming haha
2012 seems so close already :/
Forget 2012!! The rapture, May 21st 2011!! 3 days!!! lolol
So your saying the world will end when a million computer geeks rise and distroy the earth.
"So your saying the world will end when a million computer geeks rise and distroy the earth."
dude who knows, all I can say is, in this world expect the unexpected!
lol how long now?
I don't know what people are talking about but I'm online and my friends. O.o
Far as im concerned they can work away. They doing what they can to make sure your stuff is safe.
Thats not why it went down..... Sony has stated that due to the throttling of password reset emails by ISP's they are having to modify a few things on their side as well. "Sony: Fortunately we have got ISPs to release outstanding emails; unfortunately, a small amount of maintenance is required to improve this process" They then went on to say that "Clarification: this maintenance doesn't affect PSN on consoles, only the website you click through to from the password change email." At least get the info from the horses mouth....
yeh this is misleading title and article... you want news on sony go to there sites or blogs not these random sites that write such rubbish for hits
Yes this is misleading but, you cant rely on sony's info either, for a week after psn went down sony new it was hackers and tbey said nothing.
If Sony are going to release any information, it will be on their site.
Otherwise the other sites can only guess.
This was posted on Sony's forums: Hey Guys. user1337 You have to be very careful when reading articles. It says "amidst" in the title and in the article it only joins the two events with "then". It's a common journalistic trick to fool the reader, in fact there is no causal connection at all.
Well as long as i can sign in via my PS3 i dont really care.
is this the future of PSN?
Pathetic misleading title, psn works
I guess some people can't get enough of chewing on their week old turds they had stored in the closet
A bit harsh, the text clearly states it is related to the web sign in.
Why you gotta call guile harsh? He has Sonic Boom!
Finally got my password reset email after two days but I can't activate it. I guess a few more days can't hurt.
Cool, im famous. :D
are you related to Rebecca Black? XD
Just look at the stupid website name and you can instantly tell it's BS. :)
on monday nite when i was playing blck ops i got kick out of the game and i got a message that said someone else log in with my name, but i never got logout from the psn just from the activision server. Has this happen to any one else? I also change my password again right after.
did you ever logged on someone else's PS3, perhaps a friend? If so then he/she may have logged on your account by accident.
nope not even my stepson has my password. Plus i don't log in on none of my friends ps3
happened to me once happened to my friend twice
It happend to me also and i was also playing black ops. The thing is before i got the message, the connection of the Activision server was lost.So i think that it had more to do with Activision screwing up because i was still on PSN and i could log in again to black ops after i restarted the game.
It's actually not bullshit, if it is, why is it down for maintenance.
because they are sending massive amount of emails ? and it's easier to do that by modifying your server to send them in batches rather than one at a time ? just saying
I had no problem changing my password when the PSN first resumed service here. And I've had no problems logging into the network since.
Tried to warn you all last night, but a pile of people decided it would be the cool thing to report the post as spam/fake >_> http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... http://www.neogaf.com/forum...
