I signed in to the blog the day PSN went back up
And I haven't been signed out since, I just checked and I'm still signed in now (on their websites)

I did this as I read somewhere that by signing in through the web and the PS3 itself that I may be able to stay logged in even if the servers were to go down due to all of the people rushing to get back online.
tehpees3  +   1730d ago
I tried to change my password two days ago and it said an email will be with me in 24 hours. still waiting for that email but honestly I'm happy with waiting
ravinash  +   1730d ago
I never got my email either.
Just tried logging onto the playstation and that let me reset my password and got on about 24 hours after they said the system was up.
Days later I still never saw that email.
hmmmm  +   1730d ago

Yeah same happened with me, i waited over 24 hours for the email and it never came so i just went back to the website and tried to log in again, that time the email came within 2 minutes.

After their upgrade in security that is probably not too far from the truth. I am sure they have serious network monitoring software in place.

Why am I able to log into psn? I live in US. Nevermind. My bad.

Title is misleading, this only affects websites signing into PSN, not the PS3 for online gaming.
BX81  +   1730d ago
So the title was correct, you just assumed that it was online gaming.
Death  +   1730d ago
Under the description it says (PlayStation Network,PS3). Yeah, I can see how some idiot would assume this is for the PS3 and not PC which is clearly evident...

This doesn't surprise me in the least. It is PSN afterall.
Soldierone  +   1730d ago
Thank you. Had a feeling it was just a misleading title so i didnt bother clicking it.
krisq  +   1730d ago
Hey Guys.

Please note that PSN sign in is currently unavailable for the following services:
PlayStation forums
PlayStation Blog
Music Unlimited via the web client
All PlayStation game title websites

Unfortunately this also means that those who are still trying to change their password password via or will be unable to do so for the time being. This is due to essential maintenance and at present it is unclear how long this will take.

In the meantime you will still be able to sign into PSN via your PlayStation 3 and PSP devices to connect to game services and view Trophy/Friends information.
hotrider12  +   1730d ago
not able to log in PSN since all these rumors claim its back up and runing changed password yes, anything else no.
Kurisu  +   1730d ago
I was surprised it let me re-enter my password straight away, with no confirmation about my previous email, or extra security measures to make sure it was me. I could have been anybody logging in.
Soldierone  +   1730d ago
Was thinking that too. Didnt have to put in the old password or anything. Even on accounts that were not activated on my new PS3 yet...
likedamaster  +   1730d ago
ugh... Some more Sony fail.
thorstein  +   1730d ago
From PS Blog:

"We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed."
thorstein  +   1730d ago
That is funny. A disagree for a direct quote from PS Blog.
UnbiasedGamer  +   1730d ago
Once again..This is just terrible and when will it stop, I am one of those who can't change their password. The email which I got 2 days later from the day of request. After PSN going back down again then up again...and now the site is down. Sony get your act together.

user1337  +   1730d ago
Thats not why it went down.....

Sony has stated that due to the throttling of password reset emails by ISP's they are having to modify a few things on their side as well.

"Sony: Fortunately we have got ISPs to release outstanding emails; unfortunately, a small amount of maintenance is required to improve this process"

They then went on to say that "Clarification: this maintenance doesn't affect PSN on consoles, only the website you click through to from the password change email."

At least get the info from the horses mouth....

yeh this is misleading title and article... you want news on sony go to there sites or blogs not these random sites that write such rubbish for hits
awiseman  +   1730d ago
Yes this is misleading but, you cant rely on sony's info either, for a week after psn went down sony new it was hackers and tbey said nothing.
ravinash  +   1730d ago
If Sony are going to release any information, it will be on their site.
Otherwise the other sites can only guess.

You have to be very careful when reading articles. It says "amidst" in the title and in the article it only joins the two events with "then". It's a common journalistic trick to fool the reader, in fact there is no causal connection at all.
MasterCornholio  +   1730d ago
Well as long as i can sign in via my PS3 i dont really care.

Pathetic misleading title, psn works

I guess some people can't get enough of chewing on their week old turds they had stored in the closet
JebusF  +   1730d ago
A bit harsh, the text clearly states it is related to the web sign in.

on monday nite when i was playing blck ops i got kick out of the game and i got a message that said someone else log in with my name, but i never got logout from the psn just from the activision server. Has this happen to any one else? I also change my password again right after.
BaSeBaLlKiD721  +   1730d ago
did you ever logged on someone else's PS3, perhaps a friend? If so then he/she may have logged on your account by accident.
CPTN MITCHELL  +   1730d ago
nope not even my stepson has my password. Plus i don't log in on none of my friends ps3
DarthBigE  +   1730d ago
happened to me once
happened to my friend twice
reaver  +   1730d ago
It happend to me also and i was also playing black ops. The thing is before i got the message, the connection of the Activision server was lost.So i think that it had more to do with Activision screwing up because i was still on PSN and i could log in again to black ops after i restarted the game.
JordanBlack68  +   1730d ago
It's actually not bullshit, if it is, why is it down for maintenance.
Redempteur  +   1730d ago
because they are sending massive amount of emails ?

and it's easier to do that by modifying your server to send them in batches rather than one at a time ?

just saying
AceofStaves  +   1730d ago
I had no problem changing my password when the PSN first resumed service here. And I've had no problems logging into the network since.
Nivalis  +   1730d ago
Tried to warn you all last night, but a pile of people decided it would be the cool thing to report the post as spam/fake >_>
DA_SHREDDER  +   1730d ago
its fake forsure, i just signed in like 1 sec ago with no problems. Mods need to ban the people who approved this cause they probably don't have a ps3 to even check to see if it was real or not. Im gonna play some motorstorm online now.
Nivalis  +   1730d ago
okay then, go to and sign in.
nycredude  +   1730d ago is NOT PSN as the BS title implies.
hadouken007  +   1730d ago
I never got an email, to change my password, just as I knew Sony hit the psn on switch I logged in and we promted to change my password, and haven't been kicked off since.
maxcer  +   1730d ago
holy shit Sony sucks balls. stick to what you do best, build hardware and leave the software to the experts. no time for this amateur bull shit.

thespaz  +   1730d ago
There's no reason to change your password. What good would that do if they can just reset it whenever they want?

Also, the service to do so is down at the moment so nobody can reset your password right now (on the web).
blackburn10  +   1730d ago
This has gone beyond a joke. Now people are trying to steal our accounts? Sony should have strung up Geohot and his cohorts when they had a chance. They should have slapped them with overwhelming fines and made an example of them. All this BS is because of them. We were perfectly fine until they gave the criminals the means to do $hit like this. And while Sony fights them tooth and nail @$$holes are trying to greedly take advantage of the situation to get money, the government keeps badgering them asking the same stupid questions over and over again instead of helping them stave off these cyber terrorists and PS3 owners won't stop blaming them and blame the hackers or stop griping about the welcome back package.

I just want to play my games in peace but as per usual you can ALWAYS depend on jack@$$es to ruin it for everyone. If I EVER happen to see Geohot or his pals I have a five finger sandwich I owe them.
BrianC6234  +   1730d ago
This is easy to fix. Just force the user to click a link in an email sent to their email address. I'm surprised that wasnt already added to the password reset system.
Orionsangel  +   1730d ago
Damn, this will just delay the reopening of the PS store.

We love xbox where you pay to play half of a game you just paid full price for! (online)

We just love 3+ disc games!!

We just love next to no exclusive games!!

We just love unreliable hardware!

We just love updates that gimp our machines ability to read a disc!!

DAS692  +   1730d ago
I never knew it went back down...
Sarick  +   1730d ago
This can be fixed with a few added steps.

Instead of allowing the password reset right there, send a confirmation to the email that requires you to respond to a new link inside the email before allowing the reset.

If the password can be reset without verification from the e-mail then it's not secure at all.

Unless I'm unclear this feature allows the password to be changed to whoever has the correct birth date and e-mail information. If this is the case then the people who stole personal data had the ability to change all the passwords for everyone regardless if they updated their password or not.
