The formula of sports gaming hasn't changed much over time. It seems that every activity whether it be professional, collegiate, or otherwise sticks to the same basic structure. There's a simulation SKU - that would be the NBA 2Ks, Maddens, and Pro Evolution Soccers of the world - there's an arcade SKU - the new NFL Tour, The Bigs, and the entire Hot Shots library fall under this category - and then there are games that try to blend the two genres together - see NBA Live and Rockstar Table Tennis for prime examples.
