I used to live in Brasil when I was a little kid. I visit it every Summer. The ps3 costs around 3000-3500 reals which is equivelant to about 1500$. Yes, electronics are really expensive over there.

Thats $100 more than what you pay here and I thought we paid the most for electronics.

I hate how some people from America and Japan complain about how much they are charged for electronics. They should try live where I live! $1,400 for a Ps3, can't get a Wii, can't get a 360. I ended up paying $600 for my 360 with 2 games.

Ya I'm American and I know we get consoles pretty cheap compared to many places around the world, but where do u live? Sometimes I feel like the exhorbitant cost of console gaming in certain parts of the world is keeping PC gaming afloat.

I live in Uganda...so basically darkness from a gaming standpoint. We only get games which are over 6 months old here. That is why I rely on going to South Africa at various intervals during the year to increase my supply of gaming material.

The Gamecube price was kind of ok, as it was produced in Brazil under license from Nintendo. The problem is that now all consoles are import and pay heavy taxes as superfluous items. Even the 360, which was officially released in Brazil, pay heavy import taxes. In fact, the article got all wrong. Taxes for imported electronic goods are more about 270%, although there is a bill being under consideration at the congress that will reduce it for just 60%. That would be much better!

in my country a ps3 is like 3000$ the 60gb, but luckyly i imported mine :), and games are like 150$

But hey you can refill your car fuel just with 50 cents

Microsoft officially launched the 360 whereas Nintendo appointed an official importer that also grants support to Wii and DS. Both are significantly more expensive than the Sony products, for which there is no official support.

It´s to buy a Wii here at Rio de Janeiro with $680

And yes Almighty! Its the best selling console here, Xbox360 is the second, and PS3 is the last one! The Nintendo DS and PSP sells better than PS3.
