Here is a short article from Kotaku about their impressions from Gran Turismo 5: Prologue Demo. Since it's demo code, one track and a handful of cars, there's not much to say.
Downloaded this demo on Friday. Very slick indeed. Hooked up my old Logitech GT Force steering wheel and it works perfectly with the game. great demo from the GT lads.
Soo looking forward to the full version!! Forza can go hide in my drawer from now on!
Short but sweet
Agreed. Thye cars and enviroments have reached the total realism status. Now all that is left is to create real humans and animations (Enter Heavy Rain).
What did you expect, it's freakin GT!!!
Even kotaku couldnt knock this game. They wanted to. They just couldnt do it.
Backgrounds look no better than a ps2 game. Well you know where all the polys and effects went... to put it simple focus all the system resources on simulation you get forza. Focus everything on graphics you get GT5. Go for a balance you get PGR4. GT is kind of always been in this void caught between sim and arcade. So technically it’s a master of nothing... jack of all trades. What would you rather have a top notch race sim but a little down in graphics? A Top notch Arcade racer with excellent balance in controls and graphics but light on the simulation. Or a Jack of all trades. Ok as an arcade racer ok as a Simulation. But has pretty cars the rest not that impressive graphically. Never under estimate Sony’s ability to market mediocrity to the masses. I have to say Microsoft will never beat Sony because sony has the ability to sell anything to anyone. Just look they sold so many machines on a promise and with no system sellers on the market yet.
You know that this is DEMO of a DEMO? FULL GAME IS 6 MONTHS AWAY, so its normal that everything does not looked finished.
i was disappointed. I picked a high performance car, and it bobbed like a minivan. I'm sorry, i'm just tellin the truth. and then there was all this fake smoke that reminded me of GT for PS2. And tire marks are still to be desired. Plus no rumble, just all this screeching, makes it feel incomplete. I need something more than tire squeal when i'm reaching my grip limit. I played the Forza demo, and i'm sorry but it was more complete, and the cars felt like the were of a higher caliber then a minivan. In the GT demo, all it felt like was that there was acceleration, but even in that i was disappointed. The car bobbed heavily when the car would change gears. What's that all about. I know cars bob a lil' but it bobbed as if i slammed on the brakes. Well, the developers still have 6 months. There are a lot of improvements that still need to be done, besides graphics. Looks beautiful though.
I though the same thing Voj. Its a demo...of a demo...
Dareaver1 - there is rumble if you have a rumble pad (tested it with one) - there is also rumble with the Rachet and Clank demo.
Look at the in car view, the shadows look monotone, the car models look good but the surroundings look like cartoon land, where are the textures on the road, its virtually all the same colour. Sony truly can sell you fanboys anything! Oh, and i can play the full versions of Forza and PGR4 now, not wait until after christmas. That's the reason there are hardly any xbots comments on these pages as we are all too busy playing the new games, sony boys have a lot more comment's to make as hardly any new games are released (once a month if your lucky) keep playing your demo's!
Then why are you here since you got so many games to play? NOW STFU AND GET THE F*** OUT
dude, please stop talking BS PGR4 looks like a kiddie game compared to the realistic GT5. lol, some people are really really stupid.
hahah, i have the feeling you dont believer your own words. gt5 prologue is another leage and aboth anything°!
This what a racing sim should be and I can't wait for GT5, all I can say is PGR4 and FORZA 2 eat your hearts out.
Played the Demo and its just like all the other GT, great to look at but the gameplay is just boring and unrealistic. How can anyone call this a sim??? The cars in PGR4 feels more realistic than GT5 and thats an ARCADE racer and the environments just sucks. The only thing GT5 has going for it is the graphics, The A.I sucks, Car handling & physics is unrealistic and the tire noise is just pitty full LOL If thats what you sonyfan girls call a sim then god help you all LOL. EDIT:- @ atke car Iv always played GT on the hardest difficulty otherwise, theres no point playing it. The truth is even at the hardest difficulty GT is still NOT realistic, the A.I cars are still stupid and they still drive on rails in perfect formation.
i wonder why ppl disagree with the truth are fanboys really that blind. the truth is gt5p looks impressive but id doesnt feel very realistic and if ppl disagree with that they have either never played a real sim or there blind fanboys.
I would like to take a poll of everyone one this board. Simple question. How many people have actually DRIVEN a real car? No, not one of those Fisher Price motorized cars in your parent's back yard, a real car with an engine, steering wheel, brake pedal etc. Guess what, in real life the point is NOT to hit the other cars on the road. The AI in GT5 Prolouge demo has defintely improved from GT4. (Watch the replay demo of Daytona). The only area where it is still weak is in engine sound. For that you cannot beat the GTR series on the PC. P.S. I have been driving real cars for 21 years and the GT series is pretty accurate.
I think you forgot to mention a system seller, a title that has also crippled Halo in sales, and best know racing game know to man. :-)
the game looks amazing but i thought it felt alot like gt4 ie. car engine sounds, the handling, tire noizes, and the ai aint changed much
man you play in standard mod, tray it in profesional end then post your coment.
best demo so far! keep it up sony!
where did you get the demo.
you've hit the jackpot there. if you drive a real car you know exactly why this game is called the ultimate driving simulation.get a wheel plugged to your ps3 and be thankful you have 50+ cars in your virtual garage you will never afford to buy(and if i did buy them i woudn't be driving them like crazy).
