Uncharted 3’s Multiplayer to Be More Fluid than Call of Duty’s

DualShockers writes: Naughty Dog has high hopes for Uncharted 3’s online portion stating it “will compete with the big boys” and not to mention the multiplayer trailer to Uncharted 3 was one fast pace romp (if I do say so myself). So if a game hopes to compete with the big dogs (Call of Duty being one of them) how will it accomplish that mission? With fluidity. In a great interview with Uncharted 3 game director, Justin Richmond, NowGamer asked what’s Naughty Dog’s plan to compete with Call of Duty and what key values will help them with their goal. Mr. Richmond replied that the gameplay mechanics of the Uncharted series allow for a new/interesting feel to online gaming.

Dont see the need for the COD comparison, be that in general, or in this article (which is based on a single quote). Going for a juicy headline me thinks.

Quotes are usually put into the writer's own words so the quotes don't take over the entire article. Judging by this article there could be at least 2-4 quotes.

One is 60fps and the other is 30fps. hmm... yeah N4G.

Uncharted is an awesome, awesome game, but come on.

"Climb a tower, pull someone off a ledge, jump six stories down, break an enemy’s neck, shoot a third, and then roll away while dropping a grenade is a typical fifteen second sequence in our game."

Yeah, I'll be waiting on some footage of that.

i find it disgusting that they are trying to compare Uncharted to COD

Emilio_Estevez2503d ago

Why compare COD and Uncharted? Just seems wrong.

GOODKyle2503d ago

I'll take the fanboy road (lol for kicks) and say "Why because Uncharted is so much better?"

MerkinMax2503d ago

Because the COD games are pretty damn fluid considering they run at 60 FPS. And they are comparing fluidity...

wlchrbandit2503d ago

Yeah, it's all about fluidity. I am a little bit of a Call of Duty hater, but I have to admit, it has the fluidity down. It's really hard to find multiplayer games that have that smoothness of gameplay.

Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are two of my favourite games, LOVE Uncharted 2's multiplayer, I still play it from time to time. (When I can log onto PSN) So I'm really hoping that Uncharted 3's multiplayer is as fluid as they say, because then I'll never have to play anything else.

claterz2503d ago

I don't think Black Ops has ever reached 60fps on my PS3 :( lol.

Anyway, I think they're focusing on the fluidity of the gameplay and not just frame rate. They mention how you can do some awesome action sequences, so I'm guessing there aren't gonna be many times when you're just waiting around for something to happen (just like CoD).

Here the best way to compare COD and Uncharted 3.

Uncharted 3 > COD

Simple as that.

Chadness2503d ago

Just about any other shooter-type-game > COD. Let the flames begin.

people are disagreeing because UC3 isn't out yet. But I don't think its very likely it will be worse than COD. Any of them. In fact, I MUCH rather play Uncharted 2's MP than any COD. The fact that 3 has more customization, splitscreen MP (with dual sign in), more weapons, and changing environments (that happen ingame) makes me rest assured that the game will without a doubt be better.

Oh, and its running on an updated engine, unlike...

Multiplayer of CoD4 is amazing, and I assume the more recent ones are great too with their only problem having to live up to 4.

Beats UC2 multiplayer any day of the week. They're completely different but CoDs is definitely more fun to me. UC is all about the singleplayer anyway...1 was just as good as 2 even without multiplayer.

3 looks quite interesting multiplayer wise but if it doesn't get me hooked I won't be playing it for long. The only game that has done that for me online is CoD4.

UC2 online didn't make me want to come back for more but the singleplayer did.

So Uncharted 3 runs at 60 fps with those animations?

That´s hard to belive but maybe on a 100+ Hertz plasma/lcd it does seem more fluid than CoD.
