Ridge Racer to become a Need for Speed-like brand

With the development of Ridge Racer Unbounded, Namco Bandai is creating a harder, less arcadey racer, more akin to the likes of Burnout and NFS: Hot Pursuit than the arcade Ridge Racers of old, but that doesn't mean the classic style of gameplay is lost.

Speaking at Namco Bandai's ongoing showcase in Dubai, product manager Kevin Chadine suggested the Ridge Racer name will become a brand within the racing genre, featuring a range of different style games similar to what EA is doing with Need for Speed.

Great news but i feel like they should stick to their roots .
The first Original Ridge racers were amazing 3D master pieces from the arcade running on Incredible Hardware that revolutionized 3D gaming along with Sega's virtual racer franchise.

Sitting here playing Ridge Racer 7 at native 1080p on a Bravia LCD i can't help but think about the HD revolution that never occurred and why Namco never took this game to the next level and competed with GT5 or others?
The tech was always there (this is NAMCO!)
and yet nothing but really light arcade racers .
If GT5 has something to fear it would be Ridge Racer, but for now it would appear to be second fiddle as Soul Calibur is in the lime light.

P.S. the native 1080p on Ridge Racer 7 on Bravia Hd is almost as vivid and crisp as wipeout HD and this is something to behold.
but warning training your eyes to 1080pHD can lead to denial when going back to 720p or less.

Eh, still got my copy of RR 6 that I pop in from time to time! Hopefully this one will be worthwhile.

Being a big fan of the Flatout series I'm curious to see what Bugbear can with Ridge Racer.

Agreed.

Yes... yes it does. what you needed to do is make some new tracks for starters, not CHANGE THE WHOLE D*** GAME.

Inception4726d ago

And do you see how they changed RR race queen, Reiko Nagase, like a junkie women in Unbounded trailer? >.<

man, i better watch bamco make one last entry for RR and announce that they will end this series, rather than watch they fucked up RR names in the future!

Enigma_20994726d ago

... who gives a d*** about Reiko? She's not the reason I bought the game.

"Let Me Solo Her" Receives A Special Award From Namco Bandai For His 1000th Victory Against Malenia

Immersed Gamer writes: "Let Me Solo Her is a legendary Elden Ring player who mastered one of the most infamous bosses to help his fellow tarnished via co-op. And for his service, he received an award from Namco Bandai to commemorate his 1,000th victory. The reward in question is a real, and extremely dope, custom-made sword.

Malenia is regarded as the hardest boss in Elden Ring, and the relentless Tarnished has defended literally thousands of hosts against this malice. Let Me Solo Her apparently passed 2,000 Malenia kills a while back, but it’s hard to measure the exact count he is at now. Bandai Namco sent the gift his way when he was at around 1,000 kills. But due to the nature of the object, it got stuck in customs for a while!"

TTT is one of my all time favorite games, but I always found its soundtrack to be terrible. I'd mute the music and put my own on.
