Resistance 3 Demo Foreshadows Excellent Marketing Opportunity

"Last week, Insomniac announced that their upcoming first-person shooter, Resistance 3, would become playable for the public on June 14th, as the single player demo for the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive would be placed on every Blu-ray copy of Battle: Los Angeles. A similar marketing action took place with God of War 3 as the demo for the groundbreaking adventure title made an appearance on District 9."

With Sony having the power they do with Sony Pictures, they really need to take more advantage of the marketing opportunities such as the Resistance 3 and God of War 3 deal.

why pair up a demo of a highly anticipated game with such a lackluster movie? It shows me that they had no faith in the movie and felt the need to add the demo to help sell it.

Even I have to admit...I bought district 9 for the GoW demo rather than the movie. What is also surprising is how few (if any) of the sony movies are shipping with a digital copy for the psp.

That is a better marketing ploy right there.

As for the movies....that is my personal opinion as to if I liked them or not. Personally.....not.

It'll be interesting to see if Resistance gets more sales due to this.

I am definitely interested in seeing how Resistance 3 turns out and how well it sells. I truly feel if Sony were to do this with most of their PS3 exclusives, they would notice improved software sales.

And how will that be measured, exactly?

Great Article/Video. Agree that they should do this more.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! It makes perfect sense for gaming companies to reach out to the movie market, ESPECIALLY Sony when they own Sony Pictures!
