Gamers: The Spoiled Children of Society?

I think it’s fair to say that gamers aren’t often the most appreciative people on the planet; the most minor slip up can lead to thousands of irate comments on message boards across the net and even the most trivial change to a game’s story or gameplay results in hundreds of negative user reviews. Three recent examples however have brought this to the forefront of my mind, and upon thinking a little harder it isn’t difficult to find many examples of gamers being impatient, unappreciative, and downright childish. - TheStonedSheep

Absolutely agree. The Potato Sack ARG was the perfect example of Valve trying to do something awesome and STILL have folks jump up their ass for it.

you can't please everybody. Give them a foot they demand a yard. We have basically spoiled ourselves with expectations that we dont take into consideration regarding what it costs and who actually pays.

TheRedWatches4733d ago

What is really troubling is the sense of entitlement people feel, like companies owe them a debt and must repay it.

This industry is becoming a bit of a joke. It has become more of a popularity contest than an actual industry that supports innovative game creations. Journalists take a dump over a game to jerk off their own ego by showing off their colorful vocabulary and just how witty they can be.

Gamers simply hate games because it's cool to do so. People dissing games before they've even played them. Writing reviews from watching game-play footage.

Yeah, we are spoiled. It's sad but true.

my son doesnt appreciate what I went through to amass such a collection of games/consoles. He just wants to play his games instead of seeing the bigger picture.

If you buy it yourself, you tend to respect it more and appreciate it. If it's handed to you then.......

The rights and privilege aspect is similar to what is classified core and casual these days. To be considered 'core' years ago was about the amount of time you invested in the craft. Playing the good with the bad. It wasnt just about the type of game you played.

You could be a hardcore angry birds gamer because you play it constantly. I wont pass judgement based on the game...we are all on the same side when it comes to gaming. Seems people just forget that from time to time.

I am glad I have matured enough to know that I am not owed anything that what they give us is a privilege not a right. I remember the days when you bought a game you got what was in the box no patches or dlc Gamers these days are spoiled.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
