L.A Noire Is A Game That My Mum Could Play

Rockstar Games has announced that L.A Noire will give players the option to skip the entire action scenes. Many games have given us the option to skip cutscenes, but I believe this is the first time a developer has allowed us to skip entire sections of the game without using cheat codes.

This move clearly makes the game more accessible to very casual gamers, even to the point that I bet this is a game that my Mum could enjoy. But is this a move that bodes poorly for more serious gamers like you and me?

Lucky, I wish my mum would at least know what console I own

lol... my mom ( older hispanic lady) still considers every console a NINTENDO because it was the first console i had back when i was a kid :)

@ logic and splint... i find it cute though that they do/did that :)

LOGICWINS2600d ago

LOL, my mom used to do that too. She only stop doing it a couple years ago.

SpLinT2600d ago (Edited 2600d ago )

my mom (hispanic) still calls my Ps3 AND Xbox360 a Nintendo despite correcting her 50 times

mt2600d ago

my dad calls ps3 and used to call ps2 - ps1 (Atari)!!

to get L.A NOIRE or not to... that is the question.

LOGICWINS2600d ago

I think you should...when its $30 in a month, just like MK9.

cr33ping_death2600d ago

I think this game is going to be my "Heavy Rain" of 2011. By that I mean a game that I go in with no little to no expectations and wind up being blown away by the end.

Rainstorm812600d ago

aww you beat me to the Heavy Rain reference...i feel the same way though

Quagmire2600d ago (Edited 2600d ago )

You might wanna stay away from the interwebs until then. Heavy Rain and Alan Wake's ending was spoiled by net-fags.

So this mode turns it into Heavy Rain?

SpLinT2600d ago

i hate stupid crap like this. Make the game nearly impossible to pass. Thats all I want. I want a CHALLENGE. I wont feel satisfied if there is a "skip level" button . I want to repeat the same difficult level 50 times until I pass it. Or be confused walking around not knowing where to go next

This game's difficulty is either going to be executed like some of us would like or be stupidly mediocre like GTA4. I remember thinking Vice City was a shitload tougher than GTA4. I'm pretty sure this will be much more "open" to how the gameplay and detective work is done.

As in, if you yourself were to have a certain goal for a mission, it'll be a lot more difficult doing it right than having some mishaps. So if the mission didn't go as planned, you'll either try again, or continue and have the story change. It might be good in the way Heavy Rain was revolutionary this generation for it's decision-making, causality-like gameplay. The story and endings are just branched. Many scenarios can defeat the game.
