I knew it. I said they did it. Now anyone affiliated with them must be arrested ASAP. Lets get this sh!t on the roll. Oh and by the way, can we get a date on activation of PSN? Thanks Kaz!

Why would Anon claim not to have done it only to leave a file in saying they did it? Anon would be a throw off for the real intruders

Either what happened is some other hackers are taking advantage of the recent Anon vs Sony dispute, using Anon's name. This could include random hackers or Rogue Anon Hacker

Or

Anon did it and are pretending it wasn't them, Anon won't actually use people's credit cards or anything or use there e-mails etc, it's just not what they do. To have random hackers in Psn is worse than Anon ones in. Atleast sony would be guaranteed no outside people(as in us...the consumers) would actually get money stolen by anon.

The official Anon group have not attacked it. Not that it really matters, Anon can be anyone really it doesn't matter much if it was or wasn't them.

Either way Anon said it was not them, leaving a file in saying it was them completely gets rid of the point of saying it wasn't them.

Oh and to all people saying Anon suck, go research what they did before Psn, Imo they are wrong with Psn, I think they should be limited with what yo can do to your console, never mind the fact that Geohot makes Piracy easy, Anon should see that he is wrong, however other stuff they did I am happy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... For example, fu**ing ridiculous church ....really this type of stuff is why I don't follow a religion anymore. Seriously, they think almost everyone is going to hell, they think the internet was invented for THEM. God I could go on but I hate this type of person/people

Edit---Joni-Ice, either way FBI will be looking for the same people, it doesn't make a difference if they are Anon or not, whoever hacked into Psn will be who FBI are looking for regardless. It won't make it any easier knowing if they are Anon or not

Joni-Ice2665d ago

WHY you ask? The FBI! They are scared as Sh!t. I would deny it too if I knew they were after me.

sikbeta2665d ago (Edited 2665d ago )

But... guys! remember, they did this for the Gamers, lol... this is not funny at all, those scumbags are the worst... also something I said for long is that even if the anonymous group claim they didn't do it, they can't be 100% sure about that, some anonymous members could do it without notify to the main group, after all they don't follow any rules and attack whatever they want for of their own "ideals"

Edit:

"Sony has been the victim of a very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber attack.
We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”"

How they could LIED that bad, they really thought they'd never get caught, worst thing was saying that they did it for US, the gamers, they're the worst.

Non_sequitur2665d ago

Have you ever thought that the guys making the videos and facebook page do not speak on behalf of all of anonymous members?

Rybakov2665d ago

lawlz they wont use peoples credit cards......there cyber terrorists they dont care about you me or gaming in general all they care about is getting stuff for free and making peoples life miserable

and if you didnt know they also attacked visa and master card back in January

can't wait till the FBI catches them

it was anon...anon can go to hell with bin laden then they can share stories with each other

hay2665d ago

Well, Anon will be in deep shit right now. Some of them were arrested already, more will fall.
Whoever did this, Anon will be blamed.

NewMonday2665d ago

the plot thickens:

"Almost two weeks ago, one or more cyber criminals gained access to PlayStation Network servers at or around the same time that these servers were experiencing DDOS attacks. The Sony Network Entertainment America team did not immediately detect the criminal intrusion..our security teams were working very hard to defend against DDOS attacks..."

thor2665d ago

Anon said it wasn't them, but you must realise, this is ONE member of Anon saying one thing. How can he possibly know what other members of the group are up to?

"Oh and to all people saying Anon suck, go research what they did before Psn" - numerous invasions of privacy, attacks against people just for bad-mouthing Anonymous (free speech?) and all this "for the lulz". Yes they did expose Scientology, yes they did expose the Westboro Baptist Church, but these organisations still exist despite the group's questionable tactics.

Anyway Anon have lost here, they are behind making the PSN go down for millions of users for 2 weeks. They will be hated. Sony have also lost, by losing their reputation which they will have to work to slowly regain. They will persue lawsuits against hackers more aggressively than before. Other companies will join in.

I can see why Anon hastily denied the attacks, but unknown to them, someone had already left a calling card and their reputation will be in tatters. Sony will live to fight another day but now I'm not so sure about Anonymous.

Dee_912665d ago (Edited 2665d ago )

even if the group who did the ddos on the sites arent the same group who hacked psn they are part of anon and the whole anon will be held responsible ... and thats alot of random people .. who are probably scared sh1tless right now lol

ComboBreaker2664d ago (Edited 2664d ago )

Defenders: "Guys, Anonymous is not bad. They are on gamer's sides."

Anonymous hacked PSN.

Defenders: "Come on, guys, Anonymous didn't hacked the PSN. They would never do that. They're not bad people. They're on your side."

Anonymous left a note clearly stating it was them that hacked the PSN.

Defenders: "Okay. Okay. So they did hacked the PSN. But guys, they're not bad. They would never use your credit cards. They're not like that."

1 week later, Anonymous used everyone's credit cards.

Defenders: "Okay. Okay. So they did used your credit cards, but guys, they're not bad. They're only fighting for your freedom."

rjdofu2664d ago

@ComboBreaker: LOL, I like how their arguments keep running in circle.

So much for them saying we had nothing to do with the attack huh...

Who would even be willing to believe these low lifes...And even so, even if they DIDNT do the attack (anon) any one of them could of just gone rouge and done the attack themselves which it could of been.

But either way I hope Sony/FBI/who ever catches these scum and get what they deserve.

Dude GTFO.Every article man. No one cares about your anti-Sony agenda. Hope they catch these a**holes, whoever did it. People love to say karma is a bi*** when it comes to Sony. I want to see how karma treats these d-bags when it catches up to them.

strend2665d ago (Edited 2665d ago )

Here is the way I see it. If you say your going to shoot someone and they end up getting shot your no doubt the prime suspect. At this point they are guilty until proven innocent in my book.

Max_Dissatisfaction2665d ago

I'm confused, I thought, according to N4G, that Anonymous where nothing but a bunch of kids in their parents basements that couldn't do anything to sony and were just "an annoyance." I thought DDOS attacks where all they were capable of...Now it seems we are being told they were responsible for this attack and I don't see anyone acknowledging their true power...just observing

NewMonday2665d ago

They went for the weakest link, us gamers, "collateral damage" for a bigger cause they call it.

BlackTar1872665d ago

you riding there jock or what?

take you agenda somewhere else.

rjdofu2664d ago

You can't deny that Anonymous is the most suspected group when it comes to hacking the PSN. Remember the few days before the breach? They said they worst had not come yet. Even if they themselves deny it, you still cannot believe them 'cus that's a group with no leadership. Who knows if some members of the group decide to attack the PSN?

Ricco-Warrior2665d ago

yea cool story and all but can i have the network going up soon my head is about to explode

metsgaming2665d ago

when the FBI finds them lets send in seal team 6. Or at least FBI agents with seal team 6 badges just to scare them haha.

Prototype2665d ago

Now we need L (from Death Note) and Detective Conan (Case Closed) to help close the case to get back to gaming on PSN

monkey nuts2665d ago

Nah, we just need to find out their names and what they look like. Light Yagami will do the rest. ;)

CryofSilence2665d ago

How can Anonymous claim to be on our team when they are confirmed to be the ones at fault for this with "Anonymous--We Are Legion" in the intrusion file? They are liars and terrorists. I look forward to seeing all of the FBI and Interpol arrests. Up to 10 years in federal prison for these guys. Was it worth it?

gamingdroid2665d ago

I suppose nobody else could have put the file there. If I was a "highly sophisticated thief" I would also mislead the authorities and suggest anonymous did it.

I mean, who can prove it was them or not....

Raiden2665d ago

I'm very upset, my friends have been offline for 14 days. Now there claim to point the finger to Anon, if there are responsible the hack them jail them, but don't point the finger wait and see what the full report is first, I think that SONY will start charging 100% for use of PSN and it will be more than XBL. Good luck my PSN friends, SONY please hurry up and get back online ASAP.

Thank you,

CryofSilence2664d ago (Edited 2664d ago )

@ gamingdroid

Your point is valid, but being part of Anonymous requires no acceptance, so by calling themselves Anonymous, they are thereby Anonymous. Circular reasoning, I know, but it's kind of how cyber terrorism works.

Edit: If you choose not to accept that "logic," Anonymous are a terrorist organization that will see a backlash for this, whether they officially did it or not (scapegoat effect). But how can an Anon be certain that they didn't do it when they have no sort of leadership or even peer monitoring? Maybe that particular Anon didn't do it, but can they really speak for their "organization"?

gamingdroid2664d ago

I agree with your "circular logic".

I'm just saying, pinning the only evidence on a file is ridiculous and only jumping to conclusion regardless of how Anonymous operates, but they do appear suspect especially with their threats of something bigger shortly before PSN was taken down... that doesn't make them guilty.

It also appears (and correct me if I'm wrong) that there is a sort of organization within Anonymous.

Legion2664d ago

First off anonymous is not Legion... I am. They might be legion though due to the fact they are not one entity but many able to work within one. But many don't realize that being a legion of anonymous people means that actions of all can't be controled and the acts of one can discredit the actions of many.

"We discovered that the intruders had planted a file on one of our Sony Online Entertainment servers named “Anonymous” with the words “We are Legion.”

*sigh*

Two scenarios: anonymous did it (be it a rogue member or them, if you allow anyone in, then it's their fault) or another hacker did it and planted that just to throw off the scent.

Either way, I believe it was their fault for starting all this. They did that first hack and either followed through and lied or made another guy look and say they wanna join too.

Words can't describe how stupid this is...

tplarkin72665d ago

"Worldwide, countries and businesses will have to come together to ensure the safety of commerce over the Internet and find ways to combat cybercrime and cyber terrorism."

This is a typical Sony cop out.

Legion2664d ago

Exactly... it was in portion an answer to what steps are being done and they comment on the need for everyone else to fight the issue.

madcowz642664d ago

I think even if it wasn't anon(I really think it was) they would be blamed anyway because they were making threats prior to PSN going offline, hell they even managed to slow down the servers for a day or something.

Wow they are responsible and they denied it. Stupid hackers thanks for the damage to gamers and sony (sarcasm). Lets get them already

Legion2664d ago

So if someone broke into MS system and left a file saying - Sony Rulez... we are Legion. Does that mark it automatically that Sony attacked MS or would it be more likely that it was someone in support of Sony and wanted to stir some shiat?
