Gamers Outlook "Will the scare mongering and exaggeration which caused many to go to their banks and demand new cards, cause these same PS3 owners to now rely solely on PSN Cards to purchase their games from the Playstation Network? have your say"
Hopefully, I understand why people use their credit cards as they always have the money available for a game they want but I've always used psn cards because I could only imagine someone getting hold of my account and using mine
I think PSN cards will increase. But thats a good thing right?
Yeah, it might even prompt them to release ones with more variety in price
I only use PSN and Live points cards just in case something like this happens, better safe than sorry.
@ Newmonday....So I guess this is the first time you will be using PSN cards because this is the first time this happened.
Does it matters if sales rise for the cards?... either way sony's getting the $$$.
only if it's fvcking available everywhere! there's no PSN cards here where I live but we do have PSN. so what am I gonna do? don't buy stuff I want? I have to use cc and unfortunately still do for the foreseeable time. :-(
Im also doing the same thing on LIVE. This whole situation has reminded me that its smart to save my credit card info in as few places as possible. only problem now is that you cant get the exact amount of money you need with the cards like you can with you CC info stored. But I actually like having extra money/points on there. Then I might buy some sweet stuff that I normally wouldn't.
"Yeah, it might even prompt them to release ones with more variety in price" Hopefully. I hate paying 20 bucks on a PSN card even though I only want a 15 dollar game.
yep, def the option i'll take from now on
I'm going to carry on using my debit card, im from the UK and our banks are advising us not to worry and not to ask for replacement cards over this situation, they seem pretty confident that if such things did take place they would be easy to trace the culprits. So yeah for now i'm quite relaxed about it, as relaxed as my bank is!
i believe the saying theres no such thing as a stupid question, but c'mon.
I've already said this. Once the PSN is back up and running, these PSN cards will be rare to find.
More retailers should offer Instant PSN codes like shopto.net do. It's cheaper and quicker.
Yeah i know right, well for us here in the UK, PSN cards are better because they are cheaper then what your actually spending. £20 cards are around £17 £50 cards are around £44
WTF where are you buying them? they cost the full amount for me
@ rabidpancakeburglar it seems Sony are not doing £20 cards anymore, instead they are doing £25 and £35, here are the links, they are trustworthy site, and i buy all my gaming stuff from them. AMAZING PRICE HERE FOR YOU. £25 card for only £19.99 http://www.7dayshop.com/cat... Here is a £25 card for £22.85 http://www.shopto.net/PS3/A... and £35 for £32.86 http://www.shopto.net/PS3/V... another site. £25 for £21.99 http://www.mymemory.co.uk/S... Also lots of sites have 10% off voucher codes sometimes, so you can even get more off.
wow. wish it was like that here in the US
I started buying cards a while ago. Not because of security but because I bought them from Best Buy which I got reward points from for buying them there. Win win :)
One things for sure I will be buying them more.
I'll be honest here... probably yes... :)
I will be using my credit card, this whole story is being blown out of proportion. PSN as been online for years and we get this incident and it is portrayed like Sony is the only company to be hacked that had cc details... It's a total joke hackers are trying to get at your details at every site you ever visit or make a purchase and they succeed! Just a few weeks ago the company who maintains Best Buy and many other companies online customer details was hacked and email warning almost identical to the Sony ones were issued....Did people stop shopping at Best Buy... Perhaps the kids and gaming journalists did...sensible adults watched there statements and carried on about their normal lives
I can clearly understand your point man! It's true that the media will do anything to get as much attention as possible... If your cc# is hacked then just call your bank and talk to them (they WILL return your stolen money!)
well said bubbles
True. Why should we be scared to use our credit cards? As far as i know, ATM's from any bank are being tampered with and account info stolen. I got relatives that had is bank account completely stolen (thousands of $).Yet I don't stop using them as the rest of the world. Visa and MasterCard selling terminals are also frequently targeted and actual money is stolen, yet no one cares about it when it's time to pay. Why? Because In both situations, issuing company provides user protection for this. In the end you will get your money back. I really don't understand the fuss about this hack, other than the spectacular side of it. Being able to checkmate Sony is not a small feat, albeit a despicable one. All this happening the day I got a new tv and a sharpshooter...kz3 withdrawal symptoms are beginning to show...
You do that...
PSN CARDs an PRE Paid Visa are safest way to go
Yup. The PSN cards is all I use, that it helps me budget my game spending. If my CC is tied to the PSN I would just spend, spend, spend; or someone would spend it for me. :P
dam i feel old i remember when sony fans use too laugh at xbox fans for going out and buying point card.
I think the issue with the MS points is that it entails a convoluted conversion process where $1 does not equal 1 point. That really is a stupid setup no matter how you look at it.
imo going out and getting the card was never the a big deal. What Kyur4ThePain said is.
Thats all I use is the psn cards
this is so obvious that this article dont actually makes sense!
probably I've been thinking about getting them myself.
Serious question...does nobody here use their credit / debit cards for any online transactions? Your bank has all your information, and they are probably just as vulnerable as anyone else for a breach. Thinking that using some prepaid card in SOME instances is, I believe, a false sense of security. Anyway, I'm pretty sure all financial institutions offer fraud protection, so your money is safe. If your bank doesn't offer this, I suggest changing banks.
Well said..the banks themselves are under constant attack from hackers.. You would think no one had done an online transaction or heard of other hacked consumer sites....
I was actually just thinking about starting to use PSN cards the other day after this fiasco began. I'm sure it WILL cause an increase in usage.
yup, it will. better safe than sorry.
Before all this happened I been using psn cards. As I said many times, its the safest route to go. If people used these cards, there would be no need to worry about hackers breaking into psn. I look at it this way. Using a credit card is like some1 leaving their wallet in the car & think no one will ever try an break into my car because I have an alarm. My point is why put yourself at risk when there are safer ways to go about with the problems psn is going through now? In the end there is all this finger pointing but when u really look at it, it could have been real easy to avoid this all by using psn cards.
Rise the price of PSN cards? So now I can get a $100 card now? Because that be ok for me, no taxes on PSN card cards (At least here in Kansas, don't know about outside of Kansas).
I would see it as pointless since Sony is increasing the security of the PSN, hopefully...
That's the good side of this controversy, PSN card sales are boosting
Yh it can be seen as good for sony however it does show suers dont trust them to store financial data
It probably will. There a tons of people who got freaked out with the press announcing that creditcard info was stolen. So i wont be surprised if they use PSN cards from now on. Also i honestly dont see the majority of people picking up a 300€ console because of the incident with PSN as well.
Maybe, but it also seems to have caused a rise in annoying no-name gaming blogs, posting more useless poll topics about PSN, to try and get traffic to their shitty sites. Yet another site I will avoid going to because of this. What is this..like the 1,000th article I've seen like this now? It's just getting old. How about being original and talking about something other than PSN and putting most of us to sleep?
