Sony Declines To Testify at Congressional Hearings, But is Cooperating With Request For Answers

Sony Computer Entertainment of America declined to testify at a Congressional hearing about the threat of data theft to American consumers, but will continue to work to answer Congressional questions, officials tell Kotaku.

The story is too old to be commented.

So they decline to testify because of an internal investigation. This is common. Even when there is no internal investigation people and groups decline all the time.

they decline for a simple reason, they don't answer to Congress, Congress can come to Sony and ask their questions

If CC info HAD been leaked unencrypted, this would anger me, but considering the situation, I don't really see the need to testify in front of congress.

Not surprised, hopefully though things don't somehow turn ugly.

I'm glad they did they might find out some new, valuable information regarding what seems to be an ever evolving situation.

Sony was smart to avoid going to an actual hearing. All that will do is drag them through the mud more, its a PR nightmare as need to be on camera being asked "why didn't you do this or that..."
