Analyst On PSN Issue: No Long-Term Ill Effect On Sony

psxextreme -

The PlayStation Network issue is a big deal, but the real question is: what long-term effects will it have on Sony and the PlayStation brand?

Well, according to EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich, while there will most certainly be a short-term effect, Sony should rebound to full strength a few months down the road. The analyst notes that "as the shift to a cashless society continues," security breaches such as the one that hit the PSN "will continue to occur." Essentially, there's just no avoiding it so we all must remain vigilant. He also reminds us that what happened with the Network "happens daily around the world." Here's the official EEDAR statement on the matter:

Finally someone with common sense every one should know hacking goes on everyday just probably not against major corporation's but it's there.

Sony seems to be the only outfit out there seriously capable of putting up a defiant face against piracy & mercenaries to protect not just the PlayStation 3 ecosystem but this sector of the video games industry.

Its good to see Sony use its power for its great responsibility.

Their defiance against piracy may cost them billions of losses but it provides hope to developers & gamers that "it can be done even while others have given up".

Piracy jacks up the cost of games, I hope someday Sony's vigilance would mean more profit for the developers yet less expensive PS3/NGP games for the gamers.

As online security gets stronger so does the abilities of the hackers.

Plus it didnt help that George and Anonymous painted a huge red target on Sony.

The mob is fickle. People will forget in a month, to their discredit.

I really hope they rebound back before Resistance 3 is released. . . I really want full force before enjoying my holyday cream of the cup games.

I don't believe that this will have any long term effects either. Everyone is just blowing hot air right now. If selling a virtually broken console and hiding that fact didn't destroy that other company I doubt this will destroy Sony. In a crisis, no matter what you do, everyone and their grandma always could have 'handled it' better.
