Short answer: It's not. And, its all in the clues.
Not, it's a different IP and it will no doubt a different feel
In fairness though, so was Read Dead Redepmtion. Heck in was in an entirely different setting and timeline, yet still managed to feel like a GTA game. This is in no way a bad thing though as it was a major improvement over GTA in terms of shooting mechanics, graphics and overall story presentation. GTA IV wasn't a bad game, but RDR was definitely one of my favourite games of last year.
for me RDR>>>GTAIV i just had more fun in it will prob pick up LA Noire way down the road. doesn't seem like the type of game for me but i know it'll be good since it's R*
I didn't think that RDR felt like gta
@ rabidpancakeburglar Just me then? ;) Same graphics engine, same physics engine, same open world gameplay, same mission structure, same A to B gameplay, same same same same same... Granted my use of the word same is used lightly as technically they were all essentially updated and improved upon (especially the shooting mechanics). Don't get me wrong there's no denying that it's a much MUCH better game than GTA IV, but it's still GTA in the Wild West. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense but IMO, RDR feels more like GTA than Saints Row does. Anyhoo... I couldn't care less whether or not L.A. Noire feels like GTA or not. As long as it's a good game that can stand on it's on merits then I'll buy it. Phew! :)
it's called GTH(orses) for a reason! LA Noir however, from what we've seen, is no where near GTA at all. it's definitely a different approach
it's also being developed by a different team...
Yea but you could say the same with IW and Treyarch with Call of Duty. Different teams, same exact game. I don't think L.A Noire will be like GTA though, but this is only based off trailers, I haven't seen a whole lot of gameplay as I want to be surprised. I saw a small amount of gunplay footage, it looked good. I'm looking forward to this game, I hope i'm not let down by another GTA clone.
No, but that doesn't mean its a bad thing.
It better feel like L.A. Confidential meets Chinatown. GTA's style doesn't work for this at all.
Hope not,the last GTA sucked balls.
I hope it plays a little like GTA IV, i mean the shooting, cover system, driving ect. But i also hope the fact your a detective adds something much better. Like red dead redemption, It had the same merchanics as GTA IV but played differently.
no its linear. Gta is not you can skip things in la noire, in gta you can not.
It is not suppose to be another GTA.
Not made by Rockstar north so...Prob not.
Wait and see I say.
yeah chuck money at something that you have no idea about.
No. Now everyone who thinks it will please, PLEASE don't buy it and then bitch about how you can't shoot civilians and it's so long between fights.
Am I the only person who thinks LA Noire just seems, well, like it'll be boring to play? I get all the tech stuff they're proud of(the mocap being good enough for you to "read" faces during interrogations etc)AND that they took their sweet time over it too but hours of inspecting crime scenes and conducting interviews with only a little shooty, shooty, drivey-drivey in between sounds just a bit dull to me-I hope I'm wrong and it;'s stunning and what have you but i seem alone in thinking it might be a bit, erm, soporific.
no suppose to be linear......and i hope rockstar see now they can make good games that don't involve condoning being a drug dealer/ addict / womanizer/ just plain scum of life....Red dead was amazing and it wasn't like that....this should be awesome if there are better forensics in it cause that would be the one thing to bring it down...but im hoping they caught themselfs on that
It looks like it's gameplay is similar to Mafia 2. Open world but story driven, with not much else to do if you stop doing the story. I could be wrong though, its just how I see it with the preview video's I've seen.
It just looks damn good to be honest, regardless of GTA comparisons I'm loving what Rockstar have been putting out recently.
Honestly would it matter?! The game looks like crap!
In some areas, yes. In many areas, no! Different developer, different engine, different gameplay design/goals. Whereas humour has always been a part of GTA, I don't think L.A. Noire will have that sort of emphasis. Same with GTA's lack of realism. It's meant to be more of a serious crime drama/action game.
Disagrees for stating the obvious? O...K!
Just think it's the 40's version of modern city Liberty City
It seems like since Red Dead: Redemption, R* has grown up a little. Although LA Noire is being published by R*. It just still shows they are agreeing to stepping up to better quality and less (potentially addictive) juvenile endeavors. :)
Is it like Mafia 2? Thats what its starting to sound like. I'll pass.
@ MasterD919- Same time line but not a (recycled) Mafia game. Better quality and fresh ideas that will not disappoint. :)
I want it to feel like a completely different experience. Lord knows I've played enough GTA games - I need something different and L.A. Noire looks very unique.
