Moon Diver is a side-scrolling platformer developed by Square-Enix, sights set on reviving 2D action games that effectively dominated arcades of the 80s and 90s. Already on the PlayStation Network and with an Xbox LIVE Arcade release around the proverbial corner (May 4th, folks!), Moon Diver‘s four-player throwback formula with a touch of RPG thrown into the mix.

Developed by feelplus and helmed by Strider bigwig Koichi Yotsui alongside producer Takehiro Ando, Moon Diver is somewhat of a spiritual successor to the intense ninja action that Strider offered. I'm getting kinda tired of 2D side-scrolling throwbacks, but I'm really digging the art style, and it's encouraging to read the enthusiasm of of Ando.
